Based on the 1971 novel by Arthur Hailey, Wheels is about the automobile industry and the day-to-day pressures involved in its operation. The plot lines follow many of the topical issues of the day, including race relations, corporate politics, and business ethics. The auto company of the novel is a little-disguised Ford Motor Company and some of the characters are recognizable to company insiders.

Wheels Audience Reviews

Titreenp SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
UnowPriceless hyped garbage
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
bp1974455 I saw this movie when I was 5-7 years old. I remember begging my parents to allow me to stay up to watch it. I believe that it was being re-broadcasted on channel 56 in their 8 O'clock movie timeslot, and my bedtime was probably 7. Eventually, they allowed me to watch one or two nights, so I've never seen the movie in its entirety, but what I saw was enough for me to realize that I wanted to design cars. Before that, all I knew of the auto industry was my grandfather's garage, and the local dealerships. Today, I am an engineer for General Motors. I would love to see the movie that started me on my life-long journey to GM and Detroit. If anyone knows of any way to obtain a copy of this movie, please let me know. Otherwise, I guess I will have to keep my fingers crossed in the hope that someday it will be released on DVD.
ylitalo Roc Hudson and Blair Brown play one of the greatest parts of their careers in this compelling drama about the automobile industry.Wheels, the mini-series, is a wonderful drama wrapped around the ins and outs of the automobile industry. Why, oh why is this mini-series not available on VCR/DVD??? Not only is there a ton of money to be made, but this wonderful dramatic story should be shared with a new generation! Please find out who and how we can make this wonderful dramatic story available for the masses!Thank you for listening!
wheelerjeff I saw this series when it came out. Excellent 70's soap opera filled with scandal and intrigue. Set in the auto industry with corporate spying and power struggles. Fun and entertaining. I would love to have a copy of this in my collection.
Paul-308 Intriguing mini series set in the 1960s American auto industry capitol of Michigan, covering about every possible "base" that could be....greed,backstabbing,power plays, personal lives, racial tensions, competitive urges, corporate struggles.....its all there.Basically in a nutshell,Hudson is married to the daughter of the President of National Motors (a play on "American Motors??"),and he views the potential youth market as a veritable goldmine to the carmaker. He proposes the "Hawk" (looking something like an AMC Javelin) psudeo-sports car as their entry into this future field.A large competitor is seen working on a similar project,so Hudson pushes hard to get his baby to market.Engineering problems, corporate bean counters, top brass, all conspire against him. A decent program with top name stars of the day.If you are curious of the auto industry's inner workings, this is the mini series for you.If they would only release it on DVD.... (Here's trivia for you....National Motors only product was a family sedan...in the mini series it was simply a 1966/67 Dodge Coronet with a hastily applied generic grille).
