Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
Murphy Howard
I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Each and every episode (except for the last season) has a gripping plot. Starting from the very first episode, I was hooked on to the show. It did not take me long to complete the entire series. It definitely is one of the most mind-blowing shows I have seen so far, especially with its fabulous story line. The actors have done a brilliant job and done the characters complete justice. The well plotted twists will leave you mind boggled. I loved the first 7 seasons. The last season is a little slow and somehow fails to match up to the previous seasons' pace. Nevertheless, it was fantastic experience!

I had a back injury a few years ago and decided to binge watch "Weeds" I really shot right thru the first 3 seasons, but the longer I watched the more and more "Nancy Botwin" got on my last nerve. I do understand this is a comedy..but it just wasn't that funny. While Mary Louise Parker is a cute woman, they should have picked someone a little less white trash to play a woman every character on the show was gonna have or want to have sex with..to include the episode where even her own sons did! (One had fun nightly with his mom's picture and the other replaced mom by having sex with a woman the same age as his mother. It was just not believable that a huge drug pin/Mayor of Mexico would give up everything for this spoiled white trash like character. All this being said ,Celia stole the show in the beginning and I loved her character, until again the writers had her in love with Nancy and morphing into Nancy. This show should have ended after season three when it left the roots behind and moved to the beach. I know it's only a show but Nancy felt so sorry for herself while stepping on everyone to get whatever she wanted that it made me dislike the character and show more and more!
The Couchpotatoes
I am not surprised this show went on for eight seasons because it was truly entertaining and funny. Maybe the four first seasons were better then the last four but overall I had a lot of joy watching the whole series. Seeing Nancy Botwin growing from a small drug dealer to a gangster wife to a mother that wants the best for her family was a delight to watch. Mary Louise Parker did a great job with her role. She was definitely my favorite actress to watch in this show along with Celia Hodes (played by Elizabeth Perkins) and Doug Wilson (played by Kevin Nealon). The other characters are all good as well and the story with the necessary cursing and sex scenes never gets boring. And you certainly don't need to get stoned to enjoy this series.

I tried. I really really tried to give this show a shot. I heard good things about it and was ready to take the journey but I just can't go on any further. I was expecting something like Californication or Orange is the New Black but it's not even close. The storyline is sub par and the acting is worse. What they tried to do was make a heartfelt yet comedic story about a widowed mother of 2 who struggles day to day and has to rely on selling drugs to make ends meet. It failed miserably in my opinion. Mary-Louise Parker is so not believable in this role. I feel as the story continues it shows how poorly written her character is. She goes from a weak-willed pot dealer who can't control her children and has no friends except for the people she buys her drugs from and her accountant to an even less willed pot dealer who can't control her kids. No plot points. No story arch. Just a half hour of nonsense every episode with not one snicker or chuckle. I struggled through 3 seasons and had to stop. I honestly can't believe I made it that far. I'm really not sure what genre they were writing for here. It's not dramatic, it's not a comedy, it's definitely not suspenseful, it's not slapstick... The only thing remotely funny about this show is the character development.... And what I mean by that is there is NONE! There are MUCH better shows out there to spend time on. I for one do not care how this story ends. I am just very surprised so many people love it. The only reason it gets a 2 is because of Kevin Nealon. Without him I would've given it a 1.
