Don't Believe the Hype
Jenna Walter
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Ariella Broughton
It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Sienna-Rose Mclaughlin
The movie really just wants to entertain people.

I loved the plot line so started watching - but stopped after three episodes. So much is wrong with this series I don't know where to begin ... (watch for spoilers)The fact that Barry leaves for home, but neither of his children, nor his wife have any idea what is going on in the dictatorial run country - internet, international news stations, CNN anyone? The bleak bleak bleak acting of the lead actor Adam Rayner - main character - outshone hugely by Barhom, playing Jamal, Barry's brother. The crazy level of irreality of it all - Jamal is in hospital one day, after undergoing several hours of surgery, the next he hops around, leads two presidential meetings, no sign of any injury whatsoever. The characters (both Muslim and non-Muslim) are SO stereotypical! Naive and blind wife, married to the main character, son of tyrant for years, without ever having asked any questions. Annoying teenagers, one struggling with coming out, another who thinks she is politically aware of what goes on in the world. The young rebel-leader, old uncle-slash- general in charge, ambiguous counselor who plays an unclear role, the US ambassador --- depth is unknown to each of them. Unnecessary abuse by Islam characters - again forcing a stereotype that is, if not correctly framed, troublesome and dangerous. Touching on the subject of child soldiers, again without any framework, so hugely adding to strong, false, based-on-nothing stereotype ideas in the western world. Hanging publicly as a pass-time? If anything disturbs me most in this series, it is that it takes without any nuance elements like rape, violence, child soldiers, hanging, abuse, arranged marriage, ... all these elements, and just confirms the stupid prejudices that our world needs to get rid of. The whole thing feels like a Portuguese soap opera with the pauses, looks and sighs, trying to create drama but in the same time I sensed nobody on the set had any idea where the story was going ... including the actors. A missed opportunity to pass on a more nuanced image of Muslims and dictatorial regimes in general. Never have I rated a series 1. superficial. full of clichés and stereotypes. badly acted. stiff dialogues. oversimplified. bleak acting. unrealistic. lacks depth (story and characters)

sorry, I've tried, I really did, but the show is so bad for so many reasons. OK, so I'm Jewish from Israel, I thought it will be a good series to watch because the subject is familiar to me, an Arabic state rolls by a tyran-president, but I can't believe that someone like Gideon Raff who was born here in Israel can make so unrealistic and kitschy reality. the actors are horrible, most of them can't speak English well and you need a lot of patience just to hear them say one sentence without pausing every two words. Moran Atias is a terrible actress with a bad accent, not fit even for a low budget soap opera. the characters are flat and dull, stereotypes even and the plot is so predictable. I saw that other users gave this series 10 points, I can't figure out why

No no no, you can not end Tyrant ever. My family member suggested that I watch this show called "Tyrant", well I didn't know what to expect at firs but let me tell you once you start you can't stop. Just like eating potato chips or MM's or whatever. I love this show and I don't know why anyone would consider ending the show. This is the real thing it is happening and all the actresses, actors, directors, writers etc crew are doing a wonderful job. love Laila's character (she is awesome) Whoever is dressing her for the show is doing an excellent job. And of course Daliyah - what a beautiful woman. Also, the theme to the show wow... Please please please keep the show alive.

I don't necessarily agree with the political views but the human psychology aspect and the development of the plot are amazing. Kudos to the creators of the series. The acting, the decor and costumes, the cast and the screen writing are gorgeous. The show is getting better and better by every episode.Although I'm yearning for fast solution, I don't want it to end. I hope they will stay on air for a long time cause otherwise I'm gonna miss it. I strongly recommend the show and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. it is a journey to the depths of a human soul.
