Trading Spouses, often advertised as Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy, is a FOX reality show in which two families, usually of different social classes, swap wives or husbands for a week. Each family is awarded $50,000, with the stipulation that the guest mother decides how her host family must spend the money. The title of the show is a play on the idiom Trading Spaces. The show shares a very similar format to the British program Wife Swap. In 2004,ABC showcased their upcoming Wife Swap show including projections of its popularity. Weeks before the show's debut, FOX introduced Trading Spouses. The producers of Wife Swap, RDF Media, claimed FOX stole their concept, while FOX argued that TV shows have always borrowed from one another and that FOX simply beat ABC to delivery. The show completed airing its third season on May 3, 2007. On February 27, 2008, FOX announced that it had sold the rights to Trading Spouses to CMT, effectively ending the series.

Trading Spouses Audience Reviews

Tockinit not horrible nor great
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Payno I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
sweetlips1914 I also don't ever make comments about shows either, but this woman was just so incredibly disgusting that I still can't believe she can actually show her face to the world! Did you see how rude & evil she was when she told ZZ that he will die at 40yrs old because of his diet! I loved zz's response back to her! This Vegan lady has such severe MENTAL ISSUES, I can't believe she was even allowed to be on the show. She is such a hypocrite, being a vegan is only good when it fits her. She let her family down. She is psychotic in ever way! Did you see how disguising she acted when some of the money went to her husband for his garden, she was jealous & actually started to CRY! Oh!! But when she gets HER money she laughs, this is after also crying about getting a spa!!! Most people would love to have a spa!! So, So ungrateful! She is just the biggest hypocrite, rude, UGLY, CRAZY, person I've ever seen on T.V. She is a BAD mom and a TERRIBLE wife. She makes me sad I live in California! I better not EVER run into that Crazy woman, she'll get an earful from me! Oh, P.S. Smelly Vegan Mom, Good job on teaching ZZ English, wow your real smart. I hope you choke on a piece of Alligator meat!!!!!!!!!! You Creep. Oh and all your friends are rude too!To the sweet, wonderful, respectful and compassionate Alligator mom, first off you are way more beautiful on the outside & inside then her! You are a GREAT MOM & WIFE. I told my husband while watching the show that I would love to come visit you & your family, & I would love those alligator gifts and I will eat all the meat in the world with you all. Oh & zz, I will drink soda & burp with you all day. ZZ when you told crazy vegan mom she was fired, I just fell in love with you! You are an adorable boy & have the cutest personality. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that psycho lady! Not ALL Californian's are like that. I hope she drowns in that spa you guys gave her. Wicked people like that don't deserve to be here on this earth. You guys have a wonderful, beautiful family and God bless you all.
margiev01 I have never sent a comment on shows that I have watched. But this one upset me so much that I just had to send one. First I want to say I love the show. Second, I want to say is that the Vegan Mom, Barbara, is a cruel, hypocritical, insensitive BEAST. The way she treated Zizi made me wish I can punch her thru the TV screen. The way she treats her own children and family makes me wish her husband would leave her ugly butt and take those children and run for the mountains. The other mom played the game right and with so much respect. God Bless her and her golden heart. You seem like a wonderful woman and a GREAT mom. I hope nothing that beast wrote about you got to you, she was probably writing about herself. What right does she have to treat your child that way, criticize you and your family and think she can teach you on how to raise your child. Sure that was great for the show's ratings, but that was just so cruel to you and your family. HHMMMMMM how do we spell Monkey when it is plural????
amwcsu Just a few minutes of watching this abomination of a television show is watchable, while convincing me that the "Decline of Western Civilization" is irreversible without retching and belting out: "What a bitch!" or "What the hell is wrong with you?!" Anyway, I've thought I seen it all when Tammy Nakamura or whatever her name is came to enslave an overworked middle class Black family in her spoiled, soap-opera watching, manicured Botox-injected rich bitch way. Now comes Mia the Tightass/Germophobic Nazi taskmaster supreme unleashes her cleanliness jihad on a fun-loving family in Tennessee. She literally insults this nice family(that would give the clothes off their back to someone in need) to the point of looking at them as horrible monsters, while laying down some ground rules she even complains like a spoiled brat about going to Tennessee. "Hey princess! Ever heard of respect!?" That's just wrong! Mia may be clean, but her attitude overall stinks...PERIOD! But it gets worse, when she gets home at first it's all smiles and hugs. But when she sees a piece (a tiny semi-invisible piece of "Silly String" on the ceiling, see goes into absurd tirade about her "no wearing shoes indoors" rule, having fun, etc. "Mia,SHUT THE F*&K UP, FOR CHRISSAKES!!" Apparently, the phrase: "Get A Life!" doesn't ring any meaning for this psycho-bitch nutjob that needs her neat freak nazi ass hauled off to the nearest Lunatic asylum or the local shrink. The Dad is cool, but he's a wimp, even when he faces off with "Mommie Dearest" warning her to cool her jets just to let her know that he's the king of the castle. Here's a tip, Dad, "GET A DIVORCE!!!" At the end of the show she scrubs away even though the house is spotless! I mean how can anyone live with a paranoid, moody, rude, uppity and snotty bitch like this poster-child for Obsessive Compulsiveness! "Where the hell do they get these people?" If FOX's idea of "quality programming consists of stupid spoiled whores that cause trouble and misplacing the most psychotic, obese, loud, ill-mannered slobs, disrespectful, germophobic, anti-Semetic, ignorant, and insane mothers in America to different families and vice-versa; then FOX needs to grow up and cancel this show and stop pandering entertainment to creatures who have not yet evolved the power of intelligence and common sense! "Where are the writers to "Married with Children" when you need them?"
tostinati Fox is proud of its fostering relationship to the most grimy, intelligence-insulting reality TV trash like Joe Millionaire and The Swan. Shocked, then, I was to find that their Trading Spouses is far better than ABC's far more grimy, intelligence-insulting Wifeswap. In Trading Spouses, the crassest of networks, wonder-of-wonders, consistently puts together a show that succeeds, without straining, in achieving something that is truly broadening, touching and even (gag) "heartwarming." Episode after episode, people who thought themselves deadly enemies on sight cry and kiss on parting. Lifelong friendships are forged. The show actually sends a very Liberal message: the similarities binding all people are more important, more relevant, than their differences. I can't help but wonder if Fox was aware of that.
