When the Weavers move to a gated community in New Jersey, they discover that the entire neighborhood is comprised of aliens from the planet Zabvron. But as the Weavers and the aliens face the struggles of everyday life together, they discover that some things -- the ups and downs of marriage, the desire to be a good parent and raise a happy family -- are universal. Intergalactic, even.

The Neighbors Audience Reviews

SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
FrogGlace In other words, this film is a surreal ride.
Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
cmc2392 The tv series more not fake comedy. We just need see E.T, Fresh Off Boat and Roswell. Larry Bird remind me of Frank. It is better showing more characters about the Addam Family and 30 rock sun. I really enjoy appreciated but I can't accepted the episode because there something need to change. Aliens need to be Spock, Lost in Space and Star Wars.
modderkakor The Neighbors is another light-hearted, yet introspective show that seems to have missed the limelight due to poor promotion and network support. Very few shows can mix comedy and human nature without being preachy, "trying too hard", or requiring a lot of effort to understand obscure references. Because of this, The Neighbors ends up being a show that makes you tilt your head slightly, look toward the corner of the ceiling, and go "huh, I hadn't thought about it that way before", nearly as often as it makes you laugh out loud (which is a hard thing to accomplish in itself).I have instantly fallen in love with Toks Olagundoye -- she is an excellent actor with impeccable facial expressions. So often poor facial acting will ruin a scene and remove you from the situation at hand, but just as often an excellent actor such as Toks will being you just as much into the scene and make your feel all that more. Watch her other shows! She was in 22 episodes of Castle and a few episodes of Law and Order, and excellent in everyone one of them. I am looking forward to seeing her, as well as Simon Templeton and Tim Jo, being cast in more shows and movies.Perhaps my sense of humor just dones't match with the main-stream, because I find shows that rely completely on screaming and yelling to be irritating and unfunny. Shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are impossible to watch unless you've just chugged a few neon green sodas and bags of cheese poofs, which is why it's nice to have shows with average speech volumes, and one that relies on more than "setup-punchline-setup-punchline" repeated ad nauseam.Nevertheless, there could have been MUCH more buildup before the aliens are discovered, there could have easily been a few episodes as suspicions build up and weird things happen, so ditching that story line means a lot of wasted jokes, character building, and screen time. Thrusting the main story plot, especially one this large, into the first episode, then having non-linear following episodes is a bit outdated, even in 2012. I did find myself often rewriting episodes in my head as I watched them, some of the jokes were a little too quickly spouted out and could have been developed a bit more. Very good situations and the jokes were pretty good, but I just felt that everything could have been a little bit better.I believe I would normally rate this show a 7-8/10, but The Neighbors was good for another two seasons at least, and deserves a higher rating than it currently shows, which is why I give it a 9/10 instead.
Chappy Watched I didn't have any expectations going into this series, and it was a good thing too! This feels more like a dark comedy with a few laughs throughout the season and the only highlight of the cast, for me, was Toks Olagundoye as the alien mother, Jackie Joyner-Kersee.The show starts to become very repetitive in every episode. The humans doing their thing and then the aliens coming along and trying to incorporate themselves into human life, something goes awry but it all gets sorted out in the end.The best part of the whole series is a two minute bit in the season finale! That part is the only part worth a watch!!Kind of surprised it even got a second season. I wouldn't watch it again!
moondancer Neighbors is a truly enjoyable sitcom with heart and a great cast, including breakout star Toks Olagundoye. We can't imagine life without "Jackie Joyner Kersee" now that we've met her, and sincerely hope this show gets renewed for another season ( or more! ). Not that there was anything wrong in the beginning, but the series has steadily gotten better all season long and we love the unlikely bonds forming between the characters and the show's ability to poke fun at itself. The young actors are all very unusual but they are really beginning to click now as well. And I'm sure there's endless opportunities to build given the large number of 'neighbors' we haven't really met. Carry on please Zavronians and Weavers!
