Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??

What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

First of all, the lead, Peter Krause is great. I'm a huge "Six Feet Under" fan, but that's neither here nor there. Julianna Margulies, who I would never expect to see in something this esoteric and weird, it's also very good as the supporting actress. They simply need more tv like this, even tho it's a decade plus old at the time of this review, it still holds up. If you enjoy solid sci fi parallel reality/dimension world building and mind bending metaphysical mystery, this is definitely for you. I know that is not everyone's cup of tea, however if it is this is MUST SEE for any science fiction fan whether you're more on the casual side or the deeper viewer. This is truly one of the best mini series I've ever watched. There's not much else to say and it's pointless to talk about the plot, honestly I would recommend going in knowing as absolute little as humanly possible. I was fortunate enough to do that and I was absolutely enthralled from beginning to end. Just bring an open mind and prepare to have it blown. Everything from the pacing(which I find to be a hugely under rated film/tv attribute, especially in a mini series) to the cinematography is damn near impeccable. My only complaint about this show is that there wasn't a sequel! 10/10 would watch again.....and again and again and again. This makes me wanna see Peter Krause docmore sci fi!! Now having said all that, realize that this is not The Godfather, and makes no attempt to be anything more than what it is. Don't go in looking to pick it apart from a siskel and ebert kinda romp. Anything can be dissected that way, and it kinda defeats the purpose of losing ourselves in film.

SyFy is known for their Mini-Series. Many of the programs on this channel are throwaway B-Movie junk, but occasionally the network airs something great: Tin Man, Alice, Taken. The Lost Room belongs with those great mini-series as the best SyFy has offered and the best Mini-Series ever. The story revolves around a father, Joe Miller played by Parenthood and Six Feet Under star Peter Krause, looking for his "lost" daughter, Anna played by Elle Fanning of Super 8 and We Bought a Zoo. Actually, Joe knows exactly where Anna is, but cannot get to her because she is lost in some other dimension...long story, and I won't spoil it. The production itself is great: acting, direction, and special effects are top notch. Dennis Christopher and Kevin Pollack have standout performances, but everyone plays their roles well. The only knock against the series is that it leaves a lot of questions unanswered. However, a good film is supposed to resonate with viewers. This film certainly sparked conversation, and always in a good way. I watched the show with a room full of high schoolers, and it kept them hooked for the three days we watched it. The greatest quality about the series is its creativity and ingenuity. Without going into too much detail, the characters are forced to work together in order to gather the "objects". Each object has its own special power - some better than others. The watch can hard boil and egg, but the key can take you to any room, anywhere in the world. Some objects, when combined, have more interesting powers. All of this makes for a highly engaging show that spans six 45 minute episodes. I do recommend not to watch them all back to back. The conversations that we had in between episodes were as much fun as watching them. If you are looking for an intelligent show or are sick of the droll programming on cable, find The Lost Room.

The BEST TV series I have seen EVER !! And believe me i have seen a lot of TV series. I saw this series 2 years ago. I still crave for more. My friend gave me a DVD and i only saw the first episode before going to bed. But i couldn't sleep at all ! I had to get up and see the remaining episodes. I watched all episodes back to back until the next day. I had to take a day off from work. That's how brilliant this TV series is.If the producers are reading this then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING IT BACK as a full blown series. I promise that you will not regret it. This series has a major cult following and so many fans are dying for this to become a series. I cant get enough of it ! Please bring it back .

I enjoyed this mini series very much. Originally, I was going to watch part one of three yesterday and eventually get around to the next two parts, but this series sucked me in like a black hole. I ended up watching all 3 parts back to back. The curious thing is that when it comes to video, my wife and I usually like very different things. In this case she got just as sucked into it as I did, and enjoyed it about as much. The writing and acting are very well done and while there are a few small continuity errors (every film has them), they are minor and easily forgiven. What I really enjoyed was the storyline and plot.Ah the plot... I read 77 reviews that were given before mine and some of the reviews complained about the plot. How it was incomplete and the story was far from finished. I don't think that some of the viewers know what the plot or story is.The story is not about the Event or the Occupant or even despite the name of the series, the Lost Room. The story is about Joe Miller's involvement with the previous items in the search for his daughter. I don't think the series ever intended to explain even a majority of the Who, What, Where, When and HOW of the Room. The story is about one man's interaction with it.One review I read earlier said that it was like watching the second LOTR movie without seeing the third. I wonder if the reviewer has ever read LOTR? Bilbo makes a comment that his story is one little piece of the big story which just goes on and on. I don't think this was meant to be a story of THE ROOM (like LOTR was the story of THE RING), this was more like Bilbo's story in The Hobbit. His interaction with events far beyond his comprehension. With that in mind, I think the writers did an excellent job. But the true test is that you enjoy watching this show. That's it in a nutshell. It Is Entertaining. So go ahead, rent it or download it or buy it. Then enjoy it.
