Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

People just want straight answers. They want everything to be explained to them. They want the mystery to have some sense of purpose and meaning. I am - conveniently - talking about both the protagonists of the story AND the viewers of the Leftovers. This is by far THE most profound, perplexed, underrated drama I have seen in the last decade. It was ignored by the average audience and many people hated it because it didn't abide by the rules of the mainstream storytelling. But for me, I was drawn into that world because it was the first show to reflect with so surgically the human need for answers. Pure masterpiece.

The Leftovers boasts some of the most intelligently written characters as well as spectacular and often uncomfortable insight into human beings and how they grieve.

Odd. strange. And incredibly moving. Where do they go?

This show has it all, originality, philosophy, thrills....and much more. This is the kind of stuff that should be made more often, artists pushing the boundaries of storytelling and writing, whilst keeping the viewers hooked and intrigued.I'm a big fan of Damon Lindelof and lost and I loved lost but there are similarities in terms of writing, e.g when we have an answer to something then out emerges another dozen questions. Keeping us in the dark also keeps us intrigued and interested.Take 24, it was a dull, predictable show and there's so many shows like this but this is a gem of a show. The show is a beautifully mesmerizing show-piece that delivers on so many levels. I have watched up to season 2 and looking forward to 3. The characters are great, fantastic acting all around, Chris Eccleston is great as the reverend and so are Justin and the rest of the cast. This show is deep, nuanced, full of human emotion and character development. I just wish that it gets more recognition that it deserves, it definitely deserves and emmy award.Oh and the music is what adds to the shows greatness, totally brilliant, loving the piano riffs. It's just shame that other shows overshadow this show i.e game of thrones, stranger things, don't get me wrong these shows are amazing too but I just wished they advertised this show more.Yes it may not be for everyone...but how will you know if you don't give it a chance. Must watch.
