This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

This is BS! They suck you into this show, and just leave you hanging at the end of season 1... WTF!? THAN they don't even make a season 2 or 3. TOTAL FREAKING BS! Who ever decided to cancel this show needs a slap in the face for being a D!C#.... GRRRR! If you start something freaking finish it people.I'm giving this a 4 because it's a great drama, but they never finished it... (>_<)I mean you can't leave the show ending with so much suspense then just never freaking finish the story... WHO DOES THIS!????AND F YOU IMDb FOR SAYING MY REVIEW ISN"T FREAKING LONG ENOUGH! This show had me really hoping by the first two episodes, but than it just turned disappointing. There are too many subplots going on. I really don't need a vampire version of desperate housewife's. Neither do I need a vampire/wear wolf version of Dawson's creek. Don't you writers ever get tired of the boy meets girl, who just happens to be the girlfriend to the cap of the football team story? I mean can't you at least try to think of something new and creative. That story is so overdone that it ain't even slightly interesting anymore. It has been told in so many different versions and it's always the same. The prettiest girl in school leaves the hero boyfriend for the underdog (yawn) Not to mention that the outside cop was a bad idea to put in there. You've seen it all before. The outside kid coming to a new place, the married life drama etc. Only thing different is the vampire werewolf aspect If Rhona Mitra was naked it still couldn't save this lame story line. If you take Dawson Creek, Beverly Hills, 90210 (or any other teen drama) add a dash of desperate housewife's and another dash of supernatural and you got the gates. Not very original nor very exciting

I missed this on TV when it originally aired and THANK GOD for Netflix, I added this to my queue and came back to it. This is one awesome little series. Forget the little bio and such about vampires, werewolves and more. The basis of this series is of a private community suburb with secrets and once you learn of these secrets, there are more secrets to learn. I can't really compare this show to any other show. The writing is not over the top, but is top-notch the further you get into it.DO NOT think you are going to see GREAT transformation effects. This on the other hand has some awesome dramatic story telling that once you understand the 'rules', it is VERY intriguing. You'll love certain characters and hate certain characters. But what made this series stick out was the character Leigh Turner. for some reason, when she'd look into the camera, it was like she was 'looking' at me and as if I knew here.I eventually looked up The Gates (2010) and learned Leigh Turner was played by actress/musician Janina Gavankar. Then I looked her up and learned she was Microsoft's project: Ms. Dewey. I was so shocked and surprised, I posted it on facebook and then on twitter and within 10 minutes SHE and one of her fans FAVORITED it! It was cool, but scary at the same time. The show The Gates is awesome and I honestly and looking for more and friends are too! 10 from me and friends.

We follow the new police chief move in with his family to the Gates. A very wealthy and very private small town with some supernatural residents. What angers me about US TV is the lack of character development in place of giving you everything on a plate in the pilot. This is different. The character development and story is well written, which I haven't seen the likes of since Buffy. Even better, the police chief does everything right. You know how Captain Picard was believable, well so is this. Its supernatural and you wont find yourself saying "oh no way, this is just getting stupid now" like in Warehouse 13. Unlike Desperate Housewives this has a much broader audience for both men and women. I would never compare it to Twilight despite the werewolves and vampires, as if I had to watch that again id kill myself. Its glossy, its believable and I wont go into any more detail as you will enjoy the series more the less you know about it, but its a MUST WATCH
