If you think the steamy sex, sensational scandals and heart wrenching heartbreak on Latino soap operas are a little extreme, just wait until you see what happens behind the scenes! Eva Longoria stars in this new comedy about Ana Sofia, a sizzling TV superstar, and her lively family of cast and crew all competing to steal the spotlight. When the cameras turn off, the drama turns up as Ana battles pesky network execs, drunken scriptwriters, narcissistic co-stars and an unfortunately familiar new on-screen love interest.

Telenovela Audience Reviews

Steinesongo Too many fans seem to be blown away
Inclubabu Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
LouHomey From my favorite movies..
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
taos65 • I just mini binge-watched all 4 episodes of Telenovela broadcast to date, and have no idea what would be spoilers or not, so just warning, there might be some. •I really liked what I've seen so far, but it's a little rough around the edges. The cast of characters is nearly perfect, but at this point, the show needs to develop these characters more than concentrate on love lives. Ana needs to be more miserable about the presence of her ex on the show, with more opportunities for them to have to appear together in public. And more time needs to be devoted to showing the filming of Las Leyes de Pasíon and Ana's script problems - exacerbated by the blood alcohol or pharmaceutical status of the scriptwriter.Ana's typical American conundrum of not speaking the language of her nationality instantly recalled for me an interview I saw with My Name Is Earl co-star Nadine Velazquez. Her character, Catalina, spoke fluent Spanish; Velazquez, not so much. She admitted she had to learn Spanish to do interviews for Spanish- language networks, and that anyone who knows Spanish would recognize that, when Catalina went off in Spanish, it was usually some silly message from Nadine breaking the 4th wall instead.I'll admit, I was never quite a fan of Longoria, but I love her in this show because her TV character is the one with the sex appeal, the perfection, the unattainable beauty - whereas Ana is human, flawed, insecure, vulnerable. And her Miami is the Miami I just left a few years ago after grad school. Unless you live in Little Havana, on Calle Ocho, you can live comfortably without Spanish. But not without at least the semblance of glamour, no matter your income level. The show isn't gut-splitting funny, but it's amusing. It needs to exploit the wealth of character that's just beneath its fear of success. It's not Ugly Betty or Jane the Virgin; i.e., it's not an American rip-off of an already existing telenovela. It's a parody of the genre (and from what I can see, also a funny look at the reality of being an American of Latin descent, as opposed to Latino, in Miami). But I can't figure out so far why it's afraid to run with that, the way Soap did with American soap operas. For sure, this will never be Soap en Español, but it can carve out a little niche for itself, like NBC's fish-out- of-water series, Welcome to Sweden.I hope Telenovela doesn't make the mistake that Outsourced did - lose its focus very early. There's a market for a Latin-American sit- com. I was hoping Cristela would be it and was very disappointed when it wasn't renewed. Longoria is well- established in the TV business, but can she make this show a winner? I sure hope that's one of Las Leyes de Pasíon.
shinji94585 i Love it... expect the show to be light and funny. A nice watch if you just want a silly/ slap stick show. i love how all the characters make me laugh with them and at them. it kinda makes fun of the Spanish soaps, which i love cuz my sisters use to watch them and how silly i thought they were. its nice to see Eva doing a show thats in her element. i always find myself wanting more. the show reminds me of happy endings, its packed with funny and embarrassing moments. the show is not for everyone, and to have a comedy thats extremely well rounded like modern family is hard to do, so don't expect a show like that. if you want a silly and quick laugh, this show is for you.
Man99204 I cannot believe anything this NOT FUNNY would be given a series. The basic problem here is the writing. It is stale and awkward and totally devoid of anything even remotely funny. The characters are just embarrassingly bad - particularly the "Gay best friend".Eva Longoria just cannot do comedy. She has a very limited range. Comedy is not within that range. There is also absolutely NO chemistry between Longoria and Levy. Latinos deserve a genuinely funny sitcom - this is so NOT it. Watch it quickly, it will not be around past the initial ten episodes. Thank Goodness.
Charles Herold (cherold) I watched the first couple of episodes of this one. It's a very silly sitcom about life on the set of a telenovel series, with Eva Longoria as the shallow but well-meaning star dealing with the jealous ex-star and a host of insecure actors. The comedy is very broad, with pratfalls and sex jokes and punchlines underlined and bolded, but it's often quite funny, and I certainly laughed out loud a number of times in each episode. It's also very dumb and silly. Not smart-dumb, like Brooklyn 99, but straight-out, old-school mindless dumb. If there weren't so many other comedy series I like better (Brooklyn 99, Simpsons, The Grinder, Morty and Rick, Life in Pieces, Inside Amy Schumer, etc.) I would keep watching it, but there's only so much time in the day and it's a bit too dumb for me to fully enjoy, so I'll leave this one alone. But it is funny.
