Justice. cleverness. bold moves. dark backgrounds. mystery. africa. danger. no naked-women-everywhere scene...
i usually think that giving ten point to a movie or a show is not sincere but i will give a big ten point for this one.

This is a show which doesn't have a strong story, makes big promises at the beginning and lives you at the end with: "That was it?"
The main character played by Hardy is a mysterious guy, with a mysterious past, who sometimes acts like a super hero and sometimes like a pathetic fool.
Most of the scenes are somehow showing how really cool and bad-ass the main character is. The voodoo element turns out to be an empty promise, some naughty stuff which are just cheap and dumb, and nothing about the complexities of colonial Britain.
It'll take a season for you to wait for nothing interesting to happen.

The Pro's -Tom Hardy, Oona Chaplin, Jonathan Pryce, David Hayman, Jessie Buckley, Stephen Graham....wonderful cast. Always good to see Franka Potente, wish she had a bigger role!-Production value, gritty, dark, moody, certainly sets tone for what unfolds.-Multilayered revenge plot with all the corollary -class, taboo, societal subtexts-Moves along between characters and plot lines and moves total narrative along.-Requires an investment in concentration, not an easy casual watch while you multitask -Tom Hardy in flight doing his Stalin, "I am a big guy" walk, stares and grunts. The Cons-Not a casual watch -The supernatural-African and Native American primitivism does not move the plot along.-It is a stew of characters and not all of them are well developed.Overall, make the investment, it's worth watching.

I loved this series. It's stylish, refreshing filmmaking and a great example of how television mini series can be better than cinema. The look of this series is like no other. The filmmakers take advantage of all that today's technology has to offer without letting it get in the way of the story. It's also an interesting exercise in period filmmaking. It goes in a very bold direction, quite unlike most costume dramas the Brit's are known for. It also shows what you can be done when the filmmakers are in control, instead of a bunch Hollywood studio idiots imposing their dumb ideas and "audience testing" bullshit on the creatives. Hooray for Tom Hardy. Please sir, could I have some more?
