Stargate Atlantis Audience Reviews

SteinMo What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.
Kailansorac Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
Ogosmith Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
bheadher I read some of the reviews here, and frankly have a tough time rationalizing some of the negative ones...For me, I understood from the start that SGA was not going to be an SG1 clone. It was never supposed to be, as the show played out in a different galaxy, had different characters, mostly a different plot, bad guys and direction...and Stargate Atlantis pulled it off well, until Brad Wrightdecided he was bored and screwed the fan base with the Stargate Universe fiasco...To give you an idea how successful both SG1 and Atlantis were, both still show up in syndication...and will for some time to come...p.s. The only bad thing I have to say about SGA, is casting Jason Mamoa as Ronan was a huge mistake. He has zero acting ability, and did not add to the show at all...the other would be playing musical leaders. Torri Higginson leant a certain charisma and vulnerability to the character Elizabeth Weir, and the show, but when they decided to replace her with Samantha Carter, they actually alienated most of the fans...
namob-43673 Although SG1 have higher highs Stargate Atlantis is still the slightly better show because it is more consistent and have very, very few low points. This is Scifi at its best and with compelling characters, fantastic story arch's and great action this is one of the best shows out there. Among Scifi shows I would only rank Fringe and the first 5 season of x-files higher. This is on par with AoS - In other words: a must see! A few misses around the former wraith Michael, a couple of plot holes and perhaps a few things could have played out differently, at least in my head. I am also a little dissatisfied with the ending... but besides those minor complaints this is a great show.I especially enjoy the banter between Col. Shepard and Rodney, and that even obvious "red shirts" have character development. Good show that should be on everyone's list.
trestles28 I've never seen such a great show with such a great cast! Stargate Atlantis made Stargate SG1 look like ancient history. I have no idea how this ended after only five seasons, but it should have absolutely been carried on a few years longer. It had all the Sci-Fi you could imagine without being "weird" and a cast that had the best dynamic I've ever seen. I've watched every Star Trek series through a couple times, but nothing comes close to how great this show was! I hope to god one day they start this show up again. Not sure how many other shows on IMDb have an eight point rating, but that should be a major hint to all the big Hollywood execs about what people want to watch.
Martin McIntosh This is one of my favourite sci-fi series ever. There's so much here to recommend and, although since it's a spin-off of Stargate SG-1, requiring you to be at least somewhat familiar with that series' first seven seasons, it is still a great show in its own right.I think that a great part of its success is owned to the series' unrelenting spirit of adventure, in terms of tone the show's pilot is very similar to the first Star Wars movie, the music by the late Joel Goldsmith was robbed for an Emmie Award in my opinion, for its sheer uplifting nature that contributes much to the tone of the series. The premise is that after the events of the seventh season of SG-1, Earth discovers that the mythical city of Atlantis is actually a city-sized starship build millions of years ago by a race of beings called The Ancients who are indirectly responsible for the creation of the human race, as well as its location in the distant Pegasus galaxy. Stargate Command, utilising what little power remains in an Ancient power source, supercharges the Stargate on Earth enough to establish a wormhole to Atlantis and send an expedition team on a (potentially) one-way trip to the city. Once they arrive they discover that 10,000 years ago the Ancients were brought to the brink of extinction by a malevolent race called the Wraith which now rules over the Pegasus galaxy's human-like inhabitants the same way a farmer rules over a cattle (that's not a figure of speech, the Wraith eat humans). The Atlantis expedition now must use the hyper-advanced technology of Atlantis to fight the Wraith and find a way to re-establish contact with Earth. The series genre is Acton-Adventure with a little bit of comedy and drama tossed in, the action scenes and production values (in particular the CGI effects) put some sci-fi blockbuster films to shame, the acting and the writing are great across the board with the occasional bad or mediocre episode (just stay away from the episodes "Irresistible", "Irresponsible" and "Harmony" not only are they filler episodes but they are also unbelievably stupid) and the whole thing has an unbelievably uplifting tone. This is the best of the franchise and I recommend this series to any sci-fi and action buffs out there, this tightly written, beautifully directed, superbly acted and scored and you won't be disappointed if you're looking for adventures.
