Shetland Audience Reviews

Develiker terrible... so disappointed.
Leoni Haney Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
Fulke Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
amber-19903 I love the show, even loved watching season three but was disappointed with the outcome - just way too contrived and too many plot holes. Still it was worth it for the acting. It was obvious though that the show story for season 3 was no longer taken from the books, the writers for season three didn't really match the original author's ability to draw out a story.
tgosztyla I've loved this show from the beginning but season 4 was absolutely brilliant!
stevesmith-80860 After watching all the seasons, I thought season 3 and season 4 were more interesting than the first two seasons. Season 1 and season 2 were more of a procedural drama, each case would last 2 episodes. For season 3 and 4 each season only featured one case, I much preferred this format. Also season 1 and 2 felt kind of too PG, I found the cases to be kind of bland or boring, not gritty at all. Season 1 and 2 reminded me of wallander UK, it had that kind of light hearted feel which I was not a fan of. Season 1 and 2 was watchable but, it wasn't gripping or keeping me interested the entire time. Season 3 and 4 is much better. The cases are more gritty and dark and overall much more interesting, more suspense and intrigue. Also the format of 1 case for each season made the show a lot better. Season 1 and 2 I would rate 6.75/10 and season 3 and 4 7.75/10.
ricabailey Had high hopes given how good Vera is. But this series is tediously slow. Almost comatose. Cliché story lines n plots. Yeah you get to see the Shetland Isles in all their (mostly wet) glory. But it isn't enough. I have absolutely no idea how a second series was commissioned, never mind 4! I dread to think how laughably obvious the plots must be by series 3. But i will never know. Life is far too short. I only watched past series 1 episode 3 cos I am an ex pat in Aus n needed a fix of dreary UK weather....which it delivered. I do note there are a lot of opposing reviews...predominantly from the USA. I think that says a lot. Mostly that the American definition of predictable cliché n dull isn't the same as a Brits. Or maybe they just find the accents make it more interesting. Or make the characters appear more deep and imaginative. I love a Scottish accent but don't find it at all hard to understand, so I did not find any of the characters in the least bit interesting....
