Freeman
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

I have read 'Sharp Objects' and so had high hopes for this programme, but I have been left utterly disappointed. I don't remember it being a particularly long book, but remember really enjoying it. I feel like it would have made a much better feature length movie, and then the plot wouldn't feel so dragged out.Visually, it does a great job, but I just can't get past how slow and boring this series is. The balance between engaging an audience and getting them to feel the despair of the protagonist just swings too heavily towards the latter.

Ok 5 episodes in and NOTHING has happened. If you haven't watched this just skip episodes 2-5, you need the first for the setup and the other 4 do nothing. Hey maybe I can edit this after watching episodes 6 and on.

I'm giving this one more episode for something to happen or I'm on to the next. Something has to happen or a twist. Something must happen to make me watch the rest of the season.

We get that the mother is a boozy Southern belle wannabe with the vapors, a parasol, and a penchant for juleps, drama, pretense and disappointment. We get that the third sister died. We get Camille is a contrarian rebel outcast in all-black with the Led Zep soundtrack following her everywhere. We get she's a cutter and a drunken emo slag. We get the passive step-father; and the passive detective, and the passive creepy drama teacher, ex-football guys, the chief, et al. We get that all the teens are loathsome and angst-ridden. We get that everyone and everything in that entire town is beyond unpleasant under its charming Midwestern facade. In fact, most of that was revealed in the first two episodes. But instead of any plot revelations, clues or character development, the creators have just belabored and rehashed the same points over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. If I have to listen to that horrid mother be all breathy and woe-is-me-where's-my-Xanax ONE MORE TIME. At this point, I don't even care who the killer is, or why. In fact, he or she could kill the whole town for all I care.
