Did you people see the same film I saw?
Married Baby
Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

Actually, I loved the show but got so tired of Bailey being an airhead, I had to stop watching it.

Series 1-3 repeatedly delivers unique and intriguing plots in a very realistic fashion. Balancing the domestic with the professional challenges for each partner. Series 4 seems to prove that the character Rachel can never keep her personal life clear of her job which is a bit tiresome. Even so, it's a good series and reveals some interesting insights into other issues of family relationships that are switched about and from a female perspective. Overall, it beats the violent smash, shoot and blow up copper routines so beloved by all the male dominated production teams. This series at least gives you something to think about.

The show's reviews lead me to watch this show and the first season was quite interesting with plots and twists that kept you wondering. The storyline is of two detectives who work well together through very different morals and personalities and sort out their differences. However, I feel the writers let this series down from the second season on into a steady decline. As time goes on it changes from an interesting police show into a soapy filled drama that changes Rachel from a woman who was faithful and a little obsessive to a 2 yr relationship into a nymphomaniac who rushes into a marriage then sleeps her way out of it with colleagues and one night stands with no conscience at all. Bringing her "mother" into the show was just as much of a let down to the show making it come across as trashy. She is a drunken marriage wrecker who proceeds to not only ruin Rachael's life but also those around her. Even more ridiculous is how Rachael allows her friends lives to be impacted so negatively where as a police woman she is seen as extra intelligent on the job.The men are portrayed as weak, obsessive and inferior with crying and emotional outbursts which as to the unrealistic down turn of the show and I am a woman so it's not a sexiest view. I was hoping by the 3rd season it would improve but steadily declined so I haven't bothered with the 4th season. I would be very surprised if it went on for another. The writers really need to stop watching porn and trying to incorporate it into this show and get into some real police lives to get more reality into the show because it's just turning into a trashy soapy. But they could be supermarket workers or computer operators and the dynamic would be the same, just rather less bloody,I guess. They watch each other's back, slate each other's men and get drunk together - because it's what friends do. In the police environment both are empowered and use their position to advantage themselves on occasions, and that's what real coppers do,even female ones, because they are only like the rest of us except they can stop us doing what we want to and make us do what we don't want to. It's part of the contract we have with them. The other part is they help us when we need them, and this also is what Scott and Bailey do.Perhaps rather more than supermarket workers and computer operators. They are surrounded by men none of whom are worthy of lacing their shoes, some of whom may well be incapable of lacing their own shoes as it happens. Neither Scott nor Bailey is an angel. Both they are both profoundly human with all our frailties(and Bailey has added frailties,I must say). Because of that "Scott and Bailey" is compelling television.
