Ranma Saotome, a teenage martial artist, and his father Genma travel to the 'cursed training ground' of Jusenkyo in China. There, despite the warnings of the Chinese guard, they fall into the cursed springs. From now on, whenever Ranma is doused in cold water, he turns into a girl and a cute, well-built redhead at that. Hot water changes him back into a man again, but only until the next time. To make matters worse, his father engages him to Akane Tendo, a girl who hates boys.

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Janis One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
tiffanyt365 Ranma 1/2 is possibly the best anime ever. (In my opinion) Witty humor, intense but exciting and entertaining fighting, and rare romantic moments that make you scream for more, this is a gem. Also for anime fangirls, there are many possibilities for couples (Poor Ranma... so many fiancés!) The humor is hilarious, the fights are awesome and the villains are devious and pretty frustrating. The only bad things in this show are: The frequent partial-nudity (Usually it's only breasts) and the slightly outdated animation. Otherwise, it's perfect! I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind nudity and likes a good laugh. This is Rumiko's finest.
Starsky_chan Another masterpiece by Takahashi, Ranma 1/2 is the story about a 16-yr-old martial artist, Ranma Saotome, who goes on a training mission with his father, Genma, to magical springs in China called the "Jusenkyo" (Except Ranma & Genma have no idea the springs are magical). Before they know it, they fall in two different springs! First, Genma turns into a panda, and then Ranma turns into a GIRL! To make matter worse, when they come to Tokyo, Ranma ends up getting engaged to Genma's friends daughter Akane Tendo, the martial artist/tomboy who wants nothing to do with Ranma (Or so she says...). Its actually a pretty funny series, with original characters! Like Tatewaki Kuno, the swordsman who's madly in love with Akane and "The Pigtailed Girl" (A.K.A, Ranma in Female Form), and Shampoo, the Chinese Amazon who male Ranma accidentally gets engaged to, and tries to kill Female Ranma! Nabiki, Akane's money-hungry elder sister, and Mousse, the martial artist madly in love with Shampoo, specializes in hidden weapons, and hates Ranma's guts The music in this show is also quite fantastic, like the DoCo (Female Ranma Cast: Ranma, Akane, Nabiki, Kasumi, and Shampoo)! I seriously recommend you watch this show! ITS WORTH IT! 8.5 out of 10 stars!
au_law2001 What more can I say? This show is the best anime show I've seen and is perhaps the first one to get me into that genre among others. I first laughed at the title, because it sounded ridiculous, and I was new to this, and I was just a kid. And as I watched, I laughed even more, to learn this is worthwhile and a great show, a great love comedy or martial arts show. With references to ancient China and traditions, except turned upside down to bring hilarious and chaotic results! And the character are unforgettable, Kuno Tatewake, Ryoga who is stupid but my favorite character of the show! Mousse, Cologne, Happosai, Akane and Genma, and not to mention Ranma's other suitors, Shampoo, Kodachi, Ukyo, this came before Tenchi Muyo! to those who say harem anime was copied from Tenchi! Without a doubt, this is a very funny and memorable show brought to you by Rumiko Takahashi who also made Inu Yasha, Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura and Fire Tripper. Great show, recommended to all fans of the shows mentioned earlier. >>>>> 10/10
Andy Pham A rather wacky and fun-filled series about a boy named Ranma who falls into a "spring of drowned-girl" and ends up turning into a girl with the slightest contact of cold water! The series really doesn't have a concrete storyline, (probably the search of turning Ranma into a male permanently, or the whole fiancee thing), nevertheless, each episode is hilarious with the help of brilliant original characters and great adaptations of martial arts (figure-skating martial arts, gymnastics martial arts, etc.). Also another high point in the series are the love triangles and even quadrangles, the characters are involved in!The music is pretty good, highlighting the action as well as the romance in this series. The first season of Ranma 1/2 up to the fourth season are great since it introduces the funniest characters like Shampoo, Ryoga, Kodachi, Happosai, Mousse and many others. The later seasons seem to be rather dull and at times really drag on, which lead to some unmemorable episodes. Nevertheless, I recommend you seeing the early episodes of Ranma and OAV's if you want to enjoy some fun and slapstick anime.
