Some things I liked some I did not.

Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Marva
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

We have only recently discovered this lovely children's show and I am very disappointed to find out it was canceled. What a perfect show for children, I am surprised it hasn't won more awards or acclaim. All the colors and animations are simply and brightly colored. The characters are gentle and well spoken. The world they inhabit is imaginative. The music is perfect. Oswald, the main character, is a large octopus much possessed of patience and kindness. My three year old retains so much from this show I was surprised. She even remained her favorite toy "Catrina" after the baby butterfly. She normally doesn't pay much attention to many shows. If you are looking for a quiet, kind show for your child, I can't recommend it enough.

In response to the Social Worker who was worried that children would grow up and learn that Oswald was the name of a murderer and somehow this would cause them stress- I must say that is about the silliest thing I have ever heard. Lee Harvey Oswald, of course, has two other names as well, should we likewise ban Lee and Harvey? Will listening to Paul Harvey or watching Harvey Kietel in a movie be a traumatic experience? I know I am being a little over the top here, but I I'm just trying to make a point. If these kids (and my daughter is one of them) grow up attaching a good connotation to "Oswald" then the show has successfully rescued an unpopular name.By the way, I'm sure the name "Oswald" was chosen because it begins with an "O" thus "Oswald the Octopus." I heard the first two choices for names were "Orenthal" (as in Orenthal James Simpson) and Othello (of Shakespeare fame)and strange enough- they both were murderers too!

When Oswald first came out on Nick Jr., I was extremely curious about it. I watched it and it's a change of pace. It's not like Little Bill, that's modern and somewhat realistic. And it isn't like Franklin, where the lead character is so annoying, but that's how 4 and 5y.olds act. The world in which Oswald and all his friends live is simpler. It's unrealistic but I think I rather prefer it.Aside from Fred Savage as Oswald, who sings cute songs every episode, there's also David Lander and Richard Kind. You know, Squiggy (Laverne & Shirley) and Paul Lassiter (Spin City). David Lander is the dysfunctional penguin named Henry, who has to do everything the hard way and has a love for fish-related products. Richard Kind is Pongo, a somewhat queer dragon who's super shy and whose large size has made him awkward and lack confidence. There's also Daisy, an athletic daisy who rollerblades around and is just plain nice. We can't forget Weenie either; super cute doggie who looks like a hotdog.Oswald is a change of pace from all the rest of the shows on Nick Jr.. And it's definitely welcomed. I tire of seeing Joe from Blue's Clues, I tire of seeing his face every fifteen seconds on Nick Jr., plugging away Blue's Clues. Lord knows everyone prefers Steve. Regardless, if you're a fan of classic TV shows, like Laverne & Shirley, Wonder Years and Mad About You (I guess classic), you should try Oswald. It's cute, it's underrated, and sometimes you'll hear Squiggy sing. hehe Fun for people of all ages, believe it or not.

This show is fantastically relaxing and sweet and will leave you feeling warm inside. The simple plot, full of small details that reveal complexity, and pleasant music enhance the viewing experience. Fred Savage's voice is perfect for the role.I highly recommend it.
