If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.

I am out of proper words to really describe Orphan Black. John and Graeme are genius writers! They tied down every loose ends and made a gigantic twisted web of amazing ideas! Like some of you, I clicked on it, while browsing - and it was love at first sight. Addicted since. I like Sci-Fi, but some can be a bit cheesy. Orphan Black was stupendously AWESOME! Would watch all over again, but need to catch up on some sleep! Haha
Please guys, do continue the story - even if a few years from now! Thanks.

My rating of 10 out of 10 for a review means that it needs to be, in my opinion, one of the best things I've seen. This is normally reserved for Star Wars, Blade Runner and their ilk. This easily stands tall against some of the best TV I have ever watched, GoT and Walking Dead included. I have never enjoyed binge watching a series as much as I did this. Tatiana Maslany is mesmerising and it is phenomenal how often you forget that the 'sestras' are all her, so distinct are the separate personalities; and she finally received a well deserved Emmy for it. Many critics on here mention that some of the characters can often be mean, manipulative and perhaps unlikeable, and in some case those critics are correct; and they are also completely missing the point. Look deeper... Orphan Black doesn't attempt to portray these women are the perfect embodiment of their sex, but as real beings who are flawed, make bad choices and worse mistakes. Although these are strong diverse women, they can be selfish, self-absorbed and vulnerable; all is on display. It may be solid sci-fi, but the science is secondary to what the show is about and that is what it means to be a family. It is about motherhood, sisterhood and a woman's right to her own body, in this case literally. It is about a woman's place in society and the debate on nature vs nurture. Indeed, feminism is strong throughout this show, but it is never overly overt, or to the detriment of its strong male support. Orphan Black successfully demonstrates that masculinity should not be the continual attempt of living up to toxic ideals, but that decent men support and respect those around them. However, Orphan Black never leans heavily towards an overly strong agenda and has an true equality to it that this world needs in these times. In my opinion it is hands down THE best TV series I have ever seen...period, and that is saying something for me. My only regret is that it took so long for me to get round to watching it. It's now been 3 weeks since I watch the entire volume and I miss it already.

I am late to this party. I've just finished binge-watching the first season and I have to say - this show is excellent. It has just the right amount of drama mixed with a little humour so that it does not take itself too seriously.Tatiana Maslany deserves an Oscar for her performance - being able to pull-off so many roles, whilst effortlessly affording each and every one of those characters a unique & different personality, takes a whole lot of talent. Now on to the next binge sesh of season 2...

I started watching this a few days ago as I found the pilot unusual and compelling: a woman witnesses somebody looking exactly like her committing suicide. What could be going on?The woman is Sarah, a questionable character just back in town to see the daughter she abandoned one year previously (and also to sell some dope). Sarah is an orphan who grew up with foster parent Mrs. S and "brother" Felix - the poster boy for stereotyped homosexuality.Suicide girl was Beth, a cop who lived in a fancy apartment, with a fancy boyfriend and lots of money in the bank. Low-life Sarah decides to steal Beth identity and cash to build a new life with her daughter, but soon discovers that Beth's life was more complicated than it looked - perhaps the suicide should have been a hint?Turns out Sarah and Beth are part of a cloning experiment by the Dyad corporation and many other clones are still around in the world, but somebody started killing them off. Allegedly, Dyad has each clone monitored, but here the plot starts derailing. If the clones are monitored, surely lots of monitors are doing an appalling job, starting from Sarah, who's very much a loose cannon. Also the German clone seemed un-monitored, not to mention housewife clone Allison, whose monitor did not notice anything going on and killer clone Helena, free to come and go as she pleases.Helena is a merciless killer but Sarah (and the show producers) want us to believe she can be "redeemed". Helena gets punched, shot and stabbed to death countless times, only to resurrect better than Terminator, and even finding time to maintain her badly dyed hairdo - which is perhaps the biggest mystery of the show, because dying and resurrecting must be very time and energy consuming.By season 2, all the clones are pretty much in the open, the evil corporation identified and also the mysterious association of Christian integralists that's killing clones. Having no more secrets to unravel the show starts cloning itself, with episode after episode of Sarah trying to protect her daughter, going on the run, Helena interfering, getting killed, resurrecting and then starting again. The other clones/main characters get background stories to fill time. Surprisingly, they dragged this for another 3 and a half seasons that I am not going to watch.
