Kissyfur is a 1980s animated children's television series which aired on NBC. It was produced by Jean Chalopin & Andy Heyward and created by Phil Mendez for DIC. The series was based on a half-hour NBC prime-time special called Kissyfur: Bear Roots and was followed by three more specials until its Saturday morning debut. The show ran for two seasons. The show follows the adventures of Gus and Kissyfur, a father and son bear duo who had joined the circus. One day on a circus trip, the train they are riding in derails and the bears escape to a new life in the swamps of Paddlecab County. There, they protect the local swamp's inhabitants from the local bumbling alligators Floyd and Jolene. Kissyfur and his father use the skills they have acquired from the human world to create a boat tour business transporting other animals and their products down the river.

Kissyfur Audience Reviews

Jeanskynebu the audience applauded
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
Michiel B This was my favorite TV show when i was 10 years old or so...It was actually translated to Dutch even :-) now 15 years later...its still not possible to buy this show on DVD :( The series was very funny, the animals having all kinds of adventures, doing things they're not supposed to, then it would end up with father Gus saving them, although if i remember correctly in some episodes it's the kids ending up saving the parents. A very happy, funny cartoon. I loved the music, after searching many websites finally found it somewhere.Anyone care to put (all) the episodes on DVD? seems all the best series are forgotten by the DVD-Industry...
Mightyzebra We have/had a babysitter with three episodes of this series on video. Just about EVERY time I was looked after by the babysitter I watched these episodes. I haven't watched them for ages but I STILL like them even as a half preteen half teenager! The three episodes I've watched are about a little bear cub called Kissyfur and his adventures in the episode. In the first episode, when Kissyfur is in a circus, his mum is leaving and Kissyfur doesn't want her to go...I recommend this to people who love cuddly, young playful bears, comfortable, pretty simple animation and just old TV series. Enjoy! :)P.S Even though this programme is for little kids there's one episode about someone who likes being "cool". This one's my favourite.
jaws! man i loved this show as a kid. he-man was always my favorite, but this show became my favorite after he-man went off. i wish they would show re-runs of he-man and kissyfur.
