Keen Eddie is an American action, comedy-drama television series that aired in 2003 on the Fox Network. The series follows a brash NYPD detective who goes to London when one of his cases goes sour and remains to work with New Scotland Yard. The basic premise of the show bears a close resemblance to the popular 1980s British series Dempsey & Makepeace, the only notable difference being that the female partner has been replaced by a female housemate. Stylistically, the series derived inspiration from British feature films by Guy Ritchie, such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. The soundtrack and incidental music for the first episode was provided by British techno duo Orbital. Daniel Ash of Love and Rockets scored the rest of the series.

Keen Eddie Audience Reviews

Ameriatch One of the best films i have seen
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Gurlyndrobb While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Andy Keen Eddie is the story of a NY detective working for the English police in London. Mercifully it doesn't hammer away at that weary old trope of 'You say taps, we say faucets'; cultural misunderstanding are kept to a minimum. It's interesting to see London caricatures represented for an American audience and again the production showed some restraint. I don't think that the English have ever got over Dick Van Dyke's performance as Bert the Cokernee chimney sweep in Mary Poppins. The principle cast were fine but story lines were highly truncated with little connective tissue between scenes. Nevermind, it's TV isn't it. Visually it owes something to Lock,Stock & 2SB's and Snatch and I found it more entertaining than either. It's a shame that a second series was dropped. The show had charm; quirky camera work, recurring characters, loads of good gags and a non American location. Perhaps an American audience didn't take to all the English accents. Unsurprising as shows shot in US cities have to undergo audience testing to see how it will go down east coast - mid-west or east coast. This show had loads of potential. I'm sad that I only have the one series on DVD.
secrettohappy Yes, Fox execs are stupid. Yes they are tasteless. Yes, all they care about is saving money and shocking people with talentless personalities (kind of an oxymoron, huh?). This had to be one of the best shows put on television in a long time. It was part "Moonlighting", part "Threes Company", with funny dialogue, incredible photography direction, and with a bunch of likable (lovable) characters played with wit, charm and intelligence by its actors. But I'm not surprised it's gone. I'm just surprised lame Fox didn't pull it after just one episode. Should we give them credit for that? I miss Eddie and Pip.
evil-angel-1 It was FOX network's most stupid decision ever. I hate it that they keep producing all these silly reality shows and cancel good shows. Eddie had a great plot, a nice setting, well-defined characters, and quality actors. It was a show that had a future. In a scale of 1-10, Keen Eddie was an 11!
avalondrift-1 This program is the best on Television.. It's Guy Ritchie meets Damon Runyon.. I have waited a very long time for something this good.. It's inspiring and always leaves you wanting more. The ensemble cast is profound.. The writing is genius! If Bravo chooses not to film NEW episodes of Keen Eddie, Shame on them!! Watch it and spread the word! We do not want to lose this gem!! "So how are you liking me so far"? I am liking you just fine, Eddie..
