Highlander: The Series Audience Reviews

ScoobyWell Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
ScoobyMint Disappointment for a huge fan!
Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
David del Real Note: Most of my reviews contain some spoilers, but I always try that none of these "spoilers actually spoil" any important surprises of the narrative arc. These series present us a new "Highlander", it's a spin off of the "Highlander family" of films and gives us a story where the immortals can ,seemingly, actually be born on our planet. One of the most important things about "Highlander, the series" is that its length helps to understand the relationships between the characters very deeply. Many characters are hundreds or even thousands of years old and show us how the same person performs in different places and times. Many of the most interesting dialogues in these series (like the ones between Duncan (Adrian Paul) and Methos (Peter Wingfield) occur between characters that were born with hundreds of years of difference or in opposite cultural environments. As many long series, it presents us dozens of characters during its seasons and most of them only appear in one episode or two, but it has also many of them that appear very regularly and can be observed during very different aspects of their personalities. It is also very rich in characters that fall in the categories of anti-heroes or anti-villains which makes the plots very interesting. One of my favorite aspects in "Highlander, the series" is its bravery to base some of its plots on biblical references, which emphasizes the idea that if the heroes can't win, the onslaught to come could literally reach "biblical proportions."Last but not least, it is very rich in its martial arts scenes and styles, it even had the participation of Master Swordsman Bob Anderson, the same man who did the "Darth Vader" sword fights for the 4-6 Star Wars trilogy. How does this title compare to another similar series? Its clearly above the average action series and shows a bigger variety of scenarios that many historical series. How does "Highlander the series" compare to "Highlander, the Raven" and "Highlander, the animated series" ? I think it is the best of the three, but "Highlander the Raven" has some good episodes too. Thanks for reading
ILikeTheBlueLights The song playing while Joan/Felicia commits "suicide"... Anyone know the name of it? I can't understand why I'd need 10 lines, but apparently IMDb seems to think that I do. Well, if that's the minimum, then I suppose I'd better meet the requirements. Yes, well, I was just interested to find the song that plays while she prepares to jump off of the building in what I believe to be is the first scene. I happened to like the song and can't believe I've gone on this long about something that I could've asked with a maximum of 2 "lines". Call me nosy but as I can't seem to find the answer on search sites, this is my next best bet.
wnterstar This series is based on the movie of the same name, although the main character is Duncan MacLeod, Conner MacLeod's cousin. It is expertly told through well planned flashbacks. The plot lines were always engaging, and the special effects were marvelous. One of the greatest thing about the show was the music. The multi-talented cast is great. Adrian Paul is perfect for the part of Duncan, giving a likability to the character. Jim Byrnes plays Joe Dawson, Duncan's "watcher" (a mortal who knows about the immortals and records their action) and friend is a talented musician who wrote much of the music you hear in the background. Peter Wingfield play Methos, the oldest living Immortal, whose past is shrouded in mystery. Alexandra Vandernoot plays Duncan's love interest, Tesse Noel. And rounding out the main cast is Stan Kirsch as Ritchie Ryan, a young punk whom Duncan takes under his wings. We later find out that Ritchie is an immortal, too. There is a heart to this series that makes it a joy to watch. You believe the camaraderie that develops between these very different people. You share their laughter, like when Duncan's friend, Amanda (Liz Gracen) cons him into a museum theft. and their tears**Spoiler** Like in the episode where Tesse dies. Oh, and getting back to the music, I will never hear the song "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas again without crying. They used it to show Duncan trying to cope with the loss of Tesse.Any serious sci-fi buff needs to watch this series, and, if you are like me, you will watch it over and over and over....
gkillgore In the last episode of season five, Archangel, there is a montage after --The Event--the one that kind of killed the series. When Duncan is lying there sobbing, the music comes on and replays Richie's life through the series.I think Joe, aka, Jim Byrnes was singing it. Maybe it was too short to be an actual song, only a minute or so, but what was the title? Was it Lonesome town? Lonely Town? It was really beautiful. I'd like to find it, even in mp3 or wav. I've tried to find it on the net, but the sorting through a few thousand sites- and there are a lot of fake sites that are fairly, gross. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.
