Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life Audience Reviews

Sexylocher Masterful Movie
Protraph Lack of good storyline.
pointyfilippa The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
mimikarasu If there'll be no second season then I would never waste my time again to watch it. I don't mind how Rory is in her 30's, welcome to the real world, but the ending was just a big disappointment for me.
Jerika I was so excited for this to come out! I started the first episode knowing it would be different so I kept an open mind. It was so incredibly boring I actually fast forwarded through spots in all four episodes. It took me about a month to dread through this thinking it would get better and have an amazing ending. Unfortunately the ending for lack of a better word sucked. It felt like everything Rory and Lorelai went through in the regular series just unraveled and became irrelevant. Why would you make Rory be so smart through the whole thing and on such a great track for success to not be successful at all I just don't understand. Also Luke and Lorelai aren't married yet. Really!? That's so ridiculous Rory going with Logan when he is with another women, how original. That's exactly what happened with Dean in a previous season, so I guess nothing changes, nothing is learned. Then the very last scene when Rory says she pregnant so infuriating. That's not who she is, it's like they completely changed the characters and went in such a bad direction. All in all very disappointing. Wish I had never watched it. It was supposed to tie up all loose ends not leave you on yet another cliff hanger.
tyrellpeterson Please. Get of you to add another year. 4 more episodes. Something. Please, please please. I understand the clif hanger. And I understand how it ends. Rory is pregnant. Okay. And the only logical option is Logan. But Logan is engaged. So thinking the whole thing through, one can safely conclude that Rory very well will end up in the same situation Lorelai was in. A single mom. Dad in and out of picture. Look at how lorelai turned out, magnificent. So how will Rory be. We can imagine, the same, magnificent and wonderful. So I mean really one could be okay with the ending. But after becoming so dearly attached to all these characters, can one really be happy with that kind of ending to our show? No! We need more. Just a little more. Something. Please!!!!!!!!!
jsica51088 First of all the makeup felt wayyyyy over done. Lorelai is supposed to be almost 50 and that's fine, but they make her look like she's supposed to be much younger like 35 or 40, too much! Rory also looked way overdone. These women are both very beautiful and they tried so hard to make them look picture perfect that they overdid it and made them look practically unnatural. This added to the "fakeness" of the show overall. The original series felt so much more natural with the makeup.OK now onto the actual story. Some things are better left to the imagination. Rory had such a promising future at the end of the original series. She was a fresh graduate from a good school with a good job lined up. What she has now may be realistic, but she never did originally have realistic prospects. Her new life feels like such a let down career wise. Also with her relationships, what the heck!!?? I don't know if she's gotten bored in life or something, but she has become so immature and has lost all of her good morals. She already did the affair thing with Dean and it seemed like she had learned from that. Now with Logan, it's like she's gone backwards. This relationship, while I was glad to see Logan again, was very out of character from the Rory who seemed to learn from her mistakes. And the Paul story line, just there for the sake of being funny, I guess(even though it wasn't). They could have easily left out the Paul story and the show would've been better. Onto Lorelai, her struggles of being stuck with the inn was quite nice and realistic. However, they gave her too many stupid moments that were supposed to be funny, like crawling around when she was supposed to give the story about her dad. She could've easily excused herself to use the restroom and delayed coming back. It was like she had no sense there. I know she was supposed to be drunk, but seriously!? Lorelai is silly, but to me she's never been stupid until now. Her spat with Rory felt very out of character, like it was created just for the sake of having a conflict. Then, the fact that Sookie left was completely not realistic. It made sense for the filming since Melissa McCarthy has become such a big star, but for the story's sake, it made no sense. It was great when she came back for at least a little bit. It almost made up for her being completely gone. And Luke, it was nice having him back and completely in character, but their whole spat that last about 5 minutes, just no.. The fact that him and Lorelai weren't married felt like it was only there to create a story line. And the fact that after almost a decade of being together, they're just now talking about having kids. It was like another conflict just there for creating a story line. The town of Stars Hollow was nice: good familiar faces, silly Kirk stories, classic Taylor, the secret bar. All good. The musical, however, felt like the biggest waste of time especially when I realized how much time they had devoted to it= too much! Jess's appearance was great! For me, he redeemed the whole series. He had matured realistically and the fact that he was still pining for Rory was great!! He was in character which was refreshing after having Rory go so downhill. Emily's story was nice and great seeing her evolve after losing her husband. Overall, I felt like they were very lazy with the story lines. Lorelai's conflicts felt mostly forced and unrealistic. Rory was very out of character and a disappointment after I'd liked her so much in the original series. Some of the story lines like Paul, the musical and Lorelai's and Luke's fight that led to her Wild moment were so pointless that the show would've been better off without them. The last episode was the best and the cliffhanger was great, but...it opened even more questions and it seems like the show could be officially over, so the cliffhanger seemed silly.I had imagined much better for the show, so some things are better left to the imagination...
