Info

Food Party is an American television series that airs on the Independent Film Channel in the United States. The show is a pseudo-reality cooking show filmed on an elaborate, technicolored cardboard kitchen set. Each episode features multi-course, out-of-this-world gourmet meals cooked up by hostess Thu Tran and a cast of colorful puppets for arriving "celebrity" guests. The show was originally produced and filmed in Cleveland for two web series based episodes, and later relocated to Brooklyn for the final web series episodes and six IFC produced shows. In October 2010 Thu Tran announced that the show was not picked up by IFC for a third season.

Food Party Audience Reviews

TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film
Lucia Ayala It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Payno I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
edelbeb The acting is bad and the production values are dismal, and the stories are simplistic (although the show does not qualify as camp). Yet, despite or because of the above, this show is original and hilarious. Even though I don't use drugs, the Barney/Julia Child/Sherry Lewis on acid/stoner vibe hooks me. Also, the people involved with the show enjoy what they do, and their enthusiasm is infectious. It's tempting to imagine this show with better acting/production. But the ingredients of Food Party are finely balanced and blend to form an offbeat yet tasty dish. Changing any of those ingredients risks ruining the meal.
plokid1970 If you like the craziest, zaniest and cheapest television comedy and aren't offended by anything, then this is the show for you. I love it. Thu is an absolute scream and so are the other "actors" especially Peter and whoever the guy is who played "Mr. Misery", a Curt Cobain knockoff. I record the show (because it's usually on late at night in between movies on IFC) and watch it later many times over. The cast are basically all unknowns from New York City who possess distinct character and personality but probably couldn't find enough work to put them over in the business, so they do "Food Party". I hope the show lasts for a few more seasons and after it's over the company puts it out on DVD so it can be preserved.
hmservant I have watched six episodes of this show on IFC and found nothing about it to recommend. Even though it is supposed to be funny (I think), I didn't laugh once. The plots are very simplistic, which in itself is not detrimental. Yet, when the actors appear visibly anguished to be associated with the show, it does tend to detract from the experience of watching it. The sole person who seems to be enjoying it is Thu Tran, who, although energetic enough, lacks the acting ability and professionalism to pull off the feat of starring. She seems like a nice person and is quite lovely; however, she simply isn't funny and I have seen better acting in grade school plays. I realize it is her show, but if Greencard Productions is committed to the show, it should seriously consider replacing Tran with a person of talent.
Bash_McNasty I'm really not sure what to say about this show. I would like to point out that I am 22 and watch all the goofy/random shows such as Whitest Kids U Know, Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Xavier: Renegade Angel, etc. This show is just insane. Even compared to those.I gave it 6 stars because it did make me laugh a few times, although I couldn't tell you if it was because something was funny, or because sheer confusion gave me no other option. If you haven't taken a large quantity of drugs, I really don't see you enjoying this show. You have 2 options watching it: you can try to make sense of it, which will just leave you kicking yourself in the head, or you can just accept it for what it is, and then probably just find it extremely dumb. For whatever reason I did watch a few episodes hoping that maybe it would begin to make more sense, and the answer is no it did not. Now if you want to watch something that is unlike anything you've ever seen before, this is definitely the show for you.
