BroadcastChic Excellent, a Must See
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Lela The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
AlexanderExtazy After watching 13th season.. I am quite shocked at the turn this series took from 1st season until today. One thing I was shocked by watching throughout all seasons is the amount of mental illness Canada has... almost all of the characters have some form of mental illness, some in serious forms (Ricky, Craig, Fiona, etc.) .. some are mild. First symptom of mental illness is the belief that the world revolves around you, which seems to me is a belief every character has. Nonetheless I loved the early seasons since I used to watch them when I was in high school in Canada and they really reminded me of the good old times... but later seasons were just written scripts and acted upon by a bunch of young actors/actresses.The direction of the events are totally messed up and everything ends in the result that the director thinks is "right" ... instead of brutal and realistic outcomes.. everything is a piece of cake; whereas reality contains tons of brutality in the personal lives of people.. but all of that can't be seen in the later seasons. The first generation seasons were much better and more serious than the later ones.By events I mean events such as Rebecca standing against her family when she spent a lifetime being raised a Christian and all the sudden, the director transforms her into a gay person in less than 1 episode.. also standing against her brother in the trial. Now the trial is something else.. very disgraceful, disappointing, and disturbing outcome in my opinion.. this is when I really started to hate this show and why I put a 3 on the scoreboard. All the factors lead to Zoe losing the trial case when all the sudden she shows up near the end of the court (which is highly unacceptable in real courts) and with a low voice she managed to decide the outcome of her trial. Not to mention the director placed Rebecca's unthoughtful statement just to convict her brother.. total fail from Degrassi director. What else can I say about this show other than the fact that its glory days died with the casting of Jimmy, Paige, Elli, and the rest of them.
jmgmasse Degrassi: The Next Generation is a really good show that I highly recommend watching. I'm only 13, and it came out when I was only about five or six back in 2001, so obviously I haven't watched it very long, but for the months and months that I have watched the show, I can tell it's probably one of the greatest teenage shows out there - it deals with teens and all problems they may face during their tough high school years, in a realistic way. Pretty much all of the characters, I believe, are from Canada. Canada has some talent, and the creators of Degrassi found the perfect people to play their characters. At least some of the old characters. However, I'm not a fan of some of the new characters, like, Mia, Alli, and Claire. Mia to me just seems to force things, like she did Peter. Peter (Jamie Johnston) had originally been in a relationship with a beautiful girl named Darcy (Shenae Grimes) until she moved to Kenya to help build a school for poor children, or something. Right there, that's another thing I get annoyed at. The lame excuses for the characters leaving the show. Shenae Grimes actually left the show because some Beverly show stole her. I was a big fan of her's. Anyhow, Mia gets upset just because Peter still misses her. Alli and Claire are some of the younger ones and they are really annoying. Alli is a wanna-be Miss Popularity...and Claire is this stupid private-school-girl that goes to a public school in Degrassi. All she cares about is schoolwork. Nobody likes someone like that. The characters I have really liked over the years have been Manny Santos, Spinner Mason, Ellie Nash, Craig Manning. I've also liked Sav and Anya - out of some of the newer characters. Manny (Cassie Steele) is a great singer and actress, and always looks to have fun. She has a great smile and she is very attractive. Spinner is great because, if you look at him, he looks pretty tough, but really - he's just trying to do the right thing, and he's pretty funny. Ellie and Craig fit together - I saw that after watching "Degrassi Goes Hollywood" earlier this summer. It's a shame they aren't together. Well you've heard my two cents. Degrassi's a great show, highly recommend watching it.
RippedFlowerPetals3131 If you are between the ages of 12-18, this show is for you. It deals with drama typical high schoolers go through. Seasons 1-2 are pretty boring, where they are just "introducing" the show. Seasons 3-7 are the best, to me at least. It goes through 3 pregnancy story lines (there's a fourth in S10, but most saw it coming), having a child in high school, shooting, stabbing, rape, homosexuality, cutting, exposing your body to a camera, stripping, stealing, fighting, cancer, you name it. Unfortunately, all the original "The Next Generation" characters left after season 7, and only Emma, Manny, and Liberty stayed. They ended up leaving post-S7. Anyway, without the original characters, they no longer hold the title "The Next Generation". In fact, if you own Comcast cable, on the channel menu, Degrassi: The Next Generation is only called "Degrassi". That upset me very much.I have easily noticed something of the new season: It revolves around relationships. Yes, relationships may consume the attention of many high schoolers, that's not all they go through. Remember all the things the listed? Yeah, post season 7 will never go there. Degrassi has slacked off tremendously on the "going there" scale, but you would get a kick out of the repeats.Even though Degrassi has some faults, it's a good show, and you should totally watch it!
kMxx244944 I'd like to state that I am 14 so Degrassi is targeted towards my age group. Degrassi is one of the best teen shows ever. It has real teen issues; and yes, high schoolers have transgenders, homosexuals, rape victims, etc. Degrassi hits teen issues RIGHT on the head. Season 10, The Boiling Point, has hit so many issues in that season my head is spinning! I love it!Fiona is getting the plots she deserve, she's is going through an abusive plot and the after math and shes's starting to testify.Jenna, tsk, tsk, tsk. It seems this girl is pregnant. And no, Degrassi is NOT overusing the pregnancy plot. Pregnancy is UNDER-DONE in Degrassi.Clare is getting new plots and she is getting new friends, as she slowly drifts from her old friend, Alli.Adam is the character everyone has been waiting for. It has been confirmed he's a FTM transgendered. His getting bullied but has friends. Degrassi has done something no other TV show has ever done. Transgendered. That's Adam for you. Degrassi is going to show us viewers what it's like to be a transgendered.I do not want to ruin Degrassi by explaining every little thing to you, my dear reader, but if you want an honest review, this is it: Degrassi is the best show you can watch. Parents? You worried about your teen getting bad influences? Degrassi is showing real issues. Season 8/9... eh.... Besides those seasons which showed nothing seriously important, excluding Peter's (Failed) Meth plot, and Jane's (failed) sexual molestation plot. The Boiling Point has proved that Degrassi has gotten it's EDGE BACK! And, that's what we've been waiting for!!!Love, kMxx244944, an AVID Degrassi watcher.
