A Major Disappointment

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Adeel Hail
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

This is an astonishing series - part sci-fi, part espionage thriller, with a brilliant cast and a stand-out performance from J K Simmons.
It's impossible to say much about the plot lines without encroaching into the realms of spoilers, but suffice to say, this will in turn both excite and intrigue from start to finish.
One big warning: don't start looking at your phone or make a cup of tea while this show in in motion, or you will almost certainly miss important plot elements and be lost and confused. It demands your full concentration and isn't for anyone who thinks Midsomer Murders is a complicated watch.
But give it the attention it deserves and it rewards in spades. A must watch..

As i'm writing this I have watched 5 episodes and i think season 1 has 10 episodes total. My first instinct when i started watching the show was to find out the book and it's author that the show is based on. Turns out, it's not based on any book or previous show - it's a Starz original, quite literally.JK SImmons plays the lead character(s) and he does an amazing job. His character (Howard Silk) exists in two dimensions as two different people. Instead of relying on clothing or a scar or facial hair to convey which version of Howard you're looking at, JK Simmons uses the subtlety of facial expression, posture, even gait. As for the other actors, they are all excellent. The dystopian backdrop is strong and mood-creating. Direction, cinematography, dialogue, etc are all great. The genre i guess is "spy" "thriller" "drama". Don't expect James Bond action and gimmicks. I'm sure there are some great examples of comparable shows/movies but the only ones i can think of right now are maybe 12 Monkeys and Brazil and they probably aren't very good examples. If you're not drawn into it in the first 1 or 2 episodes, this may not be the show for you. In other words, what you see at the start is what you get, which i like. Again, i'm only finished episode 5 of 10, so i cant speak on that point for the entire series.

The problem with knowing too much about Physics is you sit watching this show knowing the theory of the science behind the premise of the show, but not the actual mechanics of how it was done. And How It Was Done is now something we will find out until next Season, if ever, depending on what the Producer decides to do. So I sit there, watch, look at the sets and can only hypothesize about it, IMPATIENTLY. LOL
