Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Audience Reviews

Titreenp SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
DubyaHan The movie is wildly uneven but lively and timely - in its own surreal way
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
tildybeth I know that comics are NOT the best people to seek out when you're in the middle of a crumbling world political economy, but Seinfeld seems particularly impervious to the reality that the rest of us are dealing with. The editing all along in this series has been choppy, in that it edits out the conversations about the most emotionally authentic and heartbreaking aspects of modern life. His bit with Ellen was one example, in which she was trying to say something real, and I feel that just as she approached something deep and touching, they cut the film. Maybe Seinfeld understands that comedy isn't the place to deal with such topics, but isn't that what good comedy is all about? Finding the darkness in life and making us laugh at the ridiculousness and absurdity of it all? It's not like I want to be deeply touched at the end of every episode, but the materialistic and nihilistic nature of the conversations in this series is tone deaf at a time when we really need people with money and power to be speaking about what is going on. Seinfeld seems to have made a career out of avoiding it. I hope, at least, he hasn't made a life out of avoiding it.
rafiweiner If you're into classic cars, then this is for you. Your host, Jerry Seinfeld, has a good knowledge and appreciation of classic cars. I've never seen his comedy shows and quite frankly I don't care to. He's very egotistical and patronising to his guests who are, for the most part, regular folk who aren't all that funny in "real life". His attempt to appear interesting by wearing jackets and brightly colored sneakers is rather sad. Watch all the car scenes and fast forward the rest.
mpoch Jerry the TV character is far more likable than Jerry the ultra rich snob who seems to loathe the masses. Doesn't anyone have the balls to tell him how ridiculous running shoes and blazers look?
piercejeans And THAT is what makes Jerry Seinfeld so amazing. His comedy and TV shows are examples of the genius of simplicity... and what makes Comedians in Cars one of the VERY few shows that I watch regularly, including network and cable productions. He knows exactly what questions to ask the high and mighty of comedy to get inside of their heads, connect you with them emotionally, and remove the interview away from the boring stage with curtains and a side kick friend. No late night cookie cutter here... he is on to something brand new that should endure for a good while. The car metaphor for the comedian is also done with the laser like sharp mind of a comic genius. Though he pulls back from accolades and praise, he understands how delicate the mind of a creative genius. Perhaps its because I am a creative person, or that I was born in his month and year, or that I too love cars to the obsession. He is living my dream. His vast car collection is renowned, and there are clearly three stars around which this series rotates... the cars, the stars, and the meals. The cars are the essence of the examples of the marques, the comedians and Jerry are the best of the best, and the food borders on the OCD of perfectionism. Enjoy... with a cup of your favorite coffee.
