TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Cassandra
Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

I was caught up in this beautiful story. The music was sensational and i had never heard of Hagood Henry, but its was exceptional. Up there with Hans Zimmerman and John Barry. The photograpy was out of this world and the story line was fresh and wonderful. I could relate in so many ways. Its always sad to see this calibre of movies not played enough today. Clean and wholesome. A treasured series for me. The actors all played their parts so naturally, one could believe that this was someones life story.

One of my top five favorite movies of all time (and I'm including the sequels)! Each cast member is sheer perfection in his/her role. Trying to remake this incredible movie was not a great idea in my opinion...there's no way to make it better, so why bother to remake it? That attempt in 2016 ended up as a disaster to me. Megan Follows will always be Anne Shirley. The late Jonathan Crombie will always be Gilbert Blythe...and so it goes through the whole cast. The casting director must be brilliant! I fell in love with the the cast, the scenery, the script from the first glimpse of this magnificent interpretation of Lucy Maud Montgomery's wonderful writing. I can't even count the times I've watched the whole series...it's pure joy and delight, tears and laughter...every single time!

Anne Shirley (Megan Follows) is a precocious overly-dramatic talkative 13 year old orphan forever struggling under servitude of others. She loves books. Elderly brother and sister, Marilla (Colleen Dewhurst) and kindly Matthew Cuthbert (Richard Farnsworth), want a young boy to help the farm. They are surprised to find Anne Shirley waiting at the train station. Eventually Marilla relents to let her stay. She befriends Diana Barry and has a combative relationship with Gilbert Blythe. This is a great TV mini-series. The first hour has the trio of Follows, Dewhurst and Farnsworth. Farnsworth is almost silent but has such a great presence. Dewhurst is absolutely brilliant and Follows creates the new standard for Anne Shirley. Then Anne has a new trio with Diana and Gilbert. It's a series of fun hap-hazard teen misadventures and a sweet coming-of-age story.

Anne of Green Gables is a movie that holds a special place in my heart. I first saw this with my mother years ago, and it quickly became our favorite movie. We must have watched it every time we were together. And no matter how many times we watched it, every viewing always seemed like the first time all over again. We laughed and cried at all the same places, and couldn't wait until the day when Gilbert and Anne would finally be together. My mother developed cancer and suffered for two years. This movie was a wonderful escape for her and myself. I lost her 4 months ago, and at first I thought I would never be able to watch this movie ever again, but I was wrong. It only means that much more to me now. For now it holds even more wonderful memories. This is a movie that is meant to be shared with someone special. Just as I did.
