This TV show is a mess....
It is a literal assault on your intelligence.
.Characters pop in and out of existence for no reason. The producers were trying to be "clever". Keeping the audience guessing, but never coalescing into a coherent and logical ending.
It's as if the writer(s) placed possible suspects names in a hat and pulled out the words (random person from the past)... EYE ROLL MOMENT.
.People know each other with NO explanation at all.
.FBI Agent has book that points to him being the killer, yet agent has no affiliation to accused.
Lead actress is homeless, disheveled, injured, bruised in one scene.
Has make-up on and hair curled in next.
.People are driving cars that are only found in Canada and not legal to drive in the US.
. Mass grave found, only one person is identified. Mass grave not part of original back story.
.Brother into snuff films, references names of deceased females; just into kinky stuff.
.Lead ACTOR tried hard to show he's watched every Ryan Gosling film and that he can imitate his facial expressions.
.BPD officer is 100% cliche', he's a caricature, no substance at all.
. And the ending.... UGH! what a total mess, leaving it "open" for season 2.
.PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A SEASON 2.

I just started watching but am I to believe in the 6 years this woman endure brutal torture but her eyebrows stayed groomed? She is in the hospital, battered and bruised but fingernails neatly filed? The brows! I may keep watching but it is truly sad that women can be seen beat up but certain beauty standards must be maintained. This is my perspective. The actors, stylists and directors make choices in storytelling and I find fault in this choice.

This could've been a great show. I'm always down with the gritty crime/serial killer series, but this sort of fell flat. It comes off heavy handed in almost everything. It's the combination of the writing and the acting. I stuck with it so I suppose it's not a complete waste of time.

We did binge the entire series in a couple days. Parts are riveting but minor continuity glitches are distracting. Also everybody but "dad" speaks in a whisper or Batman growl.
Just needed attention to some details to make it more believable. For instance: If you've been beat and kept in an aquarium for 6 years you still have the strength to climb up the side of a building and run cross country and only eat a candy bar with a swallow of water? Taking a breather and maybe a shower would have helped.
Also the last time I tried my battery powered tape recorder that's been sitting in storage for around six years it needed new batteries.
