Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

I gave this film a 9 out of 10, because it was exactly what I expected it to be.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

Another film with Michael Cera as a somewhat odd and misfit teenager. Despite being 21 here, Cera still make you believe he's 16.With "Youth in Revolt", frequent TV series director Miguel Arteta - assisted by screenwriter Gustin Nash and C.D. Payne, author of the original novel - delivers a fun, weird and heart- warming little romantic comedy-drama. Appearances by Zach Galifianakis, Justin Long, Ray Liotta and Steve Buscemi add to the sense of strange humour, but the film really belongs to Cera and his special charm.

Maybe it's because Nick Twisp reminds me a little of myself... Michael Cera plays another awkward role (which he always does well) as a teenager who struggles without seeing his true love. Youth In Revolt is smart, sophisticated and charming reminding me of similar movies such as Adventureland and Easy A. It's not a laugh out loud comedy but it does deliver a warming, relatable character in the split personality of Nick Twisp. Even when he's causing trouble, you feel like rooting for Cera. When he's not,you almost feel the frustration his character is going through. I Recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good comedy to watch.

This film has VERY dry humor, i think that's the main reason why people have rated the film pretty low. I love dry humor, they for me are the best kind of films but i must admit the first time i watched this i wasn't really a huge fan, i got kind of bored and it didn't really make me laugh but after seeing it a few more times on TV i have really come around to the film and its defiantly one i would recommend to anyone who likes a funny/dorky/teen film. cera is one of the best but unappreciated actors around right now, he has made soooo many amazing films the last few years like superbad, scott pilgrim and juno. he in my eyes is the modern day jason biggs and definitively has an amazing future.what makes the film so excellent is the strangeness of cera's double role play between the main character nick and his darker side francois (who has a mustache btw) it follows a story about a guy trying to get a girl which everyone can relate to but it also follow a bad home life and how he deals with both of these things. just watch this film people, trust me you will not be let down.

Pheew! What a joy it is to see Michael Cera playing a role so different to his usual role, granted he does okay that role in this film but he also plays the wonderful Francois, the alter ego of Nick Twisp, the alter ego that turns Nick into the rebel that will help him bag the girl. Youth In Revolt has it all, humor of all types, lots of raunch, a great script, and a terrific cast that are all totally suited to their roles. This movie is based on a series of young adult novels, however to me this movie was very adult and probably aimed more at an older crowd, the sex talk and raunchy jokes are hilarious and I think you have to have some life experience to fully understand the film. Michael Cera is so great, yes he is very very very typecast but he finally does something different and it really suits him, he should look out for more roles like this in the future. The supporting cast are divine, I particularly loved Jean Smart as Nick's mother, she is very reminiscent if Kim Cattrall in this role, but she's always really good, Portia Doubleday is good in a breakout role but her character comes so close to being hatable, I kind of just wanted Nick/Francois to forget about Sheeni and go pursue an equally rebellious gal.Comedy fans rejoice, this movie is original, hilarious and extremely entertaining, fingers crossed for a sequel and fast. :) hooray for Nick Twisp!
