As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

The animation in this film is incredibly fun and a has a very unique style very distinct to this director and writer. It did such a great job at making a extremely strange and morbid dystopian future, while also keeping the tone very cute and silly and very funny. It is very creative and surprisingly thought provoking. I found the subtle hints of making most of life, while also taking note of the simplicity of life to be very intelligent for the sort of the style the short was, which actually worked very well and took me almost completely for surprise.

I wouldn't say I have seen many short films from last year, but the fact that this remains one of the best, regardless of runtime, is definitely a testament to ow much lasting power it has. It's one of the greatest films I've ever seen that touches on the topics of existentialism so very profoundly and so deeply touching. The fact that it's able to hit such depths in 15 minutes is an incredible achievement. Not only is the script pretty much perfect all the way through, but the design of the entire thing is also surprisingly great. It may have simple character designs, but the colors and the settings used give the film the atmosphere needed for it to have the effect it does. What a great film, one of the best scripts of 2015 and certainly one of the best overall films of 2015, possibly the best animated film of the decade so far.

I love the work of Don Hertzfeldt, and this is no exception. I was excited to see this, and it really did pay off. This is a case where I'd rather not talk about what happens, because it ruins the experience, and trust me, this experience is a grand one! The writing is smart, and actually made me think a bit, made me laugh a bit, and was also fairly sad... though, I didn't cry. Without talking about what actually happens, this is a bold look at Sci-Fi (Science-Fiction) through hand-drawn animation, and it really does work.If you like Don Hertzfeldt, you'll probably like this, too... if you're unfamiliar with his work, it doesn't really matter, you might enjoy this overall.

Don Hertzfeldt jump into digital animation is just further proof that he is one of the greatest living American filmmakers. The fact that Hertzfeldt works alone, this is just something he created (outside some voice acting) just by himself, on his computer is insane. Hertzfeldt creates a better sci-fi story than let's say Interstellar with barely any budget and just in 16 minutes. It really makes you wonder what Hertzfeldt is capable of. If he can do things like this just on his own, what would he do with a team of people working for him and if he had a budget. World of Tomorrow is one of the greatest animated shorts ever, and it just goes beyond on being just an animated short.
