just watched this movie...and i can surely say this is my favorite movie.It will take you through the journey of Joshua.. a mission he has embarked upon...to find God so that he can make sure his Grandpa is okay in heaven.It is more than a movie to me.I could really relate to Joshua as i also used to think a lot about God at that age partly because i was born in a very religious family.The feelings Joshua goes through in his search for god and how it changes him to a certain extent for eg, when Freddie Waltman-a boy who has bullied Joshua since 3rd grade has to leave school...instead of feeling happy he feels really sad for him... have been narrated on screen beyond words...only a genius could have achieved this.Anyone who has taste for good cinema...watch this..I'm sure it will become your fav too!!:)

I just saw this movie yesterday - running on one of the Starz channels and didn't really know it was directed by MNS until the titles scrolled by. After that, there was surely no getting up from the couch! I think it is subtle and understated and somewhat contemplative. We all have similar questions, is there a God? If so, what does he/she look like? This was done without any special effects but with some basically simple yet tight screenplay. With excellent performances by almost everyone involved, including Rosie *gulp*.I particularly liked the performances by the kids. Just comparing the characters here to the first two Potter films, where IMHO the kids are relatively flat, you'll see some genuine emotions ranging from sadness to satisfaction to fear to uncertainty but most of all a sense of doubt in something almost everyone else seems to take for granted. Highly recommend watching it in a silent environment at home!

I saw this movie this morning by chance on cable and it is absolutely charming.Though this doesn't have the plot twists that Sixth Sense had, it does address some of the same issues, including death and the spirituality of children.Joseph Cross, the kid who plays the main character, is great and so is Rosie O'Donnell as one of the nuns at the school he attends. Also very good is Dan Lauria(he was the Dad on "The Wonder Years) in a small role as one of the priests.All in All, very good movie for kids 9+ and families.Bob C.

I caught this unique, heartwarming film on cable in one of those "there is nothing on television" moments. I did not expect to fall in love with this beautiful story of a young boy in search of God. It deals with themes such as family, faith, and acceptance. What started out as a "kid" movie ended up in being a movie for people of all ages. It even made me kind of like Denis Leary. Look for a good performance by Robbert Loggia as the grandfather. If you've ever had or wished for a special relationship with a grandparent, watch this movie. You'll laugh, cry, and it might make a believer out of you.
