Boring, long, and too preachy.

A brilliant film that helped define a genre

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

*Contains Spoilers!*I generally enjoy when a horror movie tries to add character depth or a plot to its gore - in fact, I usually find it pretty sad when a movie doesn't try at all, leaving you with a bunch of cardboard cutouts running around on an empty stage. But Vile *should* have left that all out, with how little actually happens thanks to the "plot" and "character development. Most of the movie is boring, with more gore happening off screen (or being left to the imagination) than happening /on screen/. You see girls scream and cry, covered in blood - but no context as to why. You see men claim they can take "no more", when all you see are a bunch of tools flying their direction. Only the first "gore" scene really shows/does much - beyond that, it's a scattering here and there of relatively tame gore (nothing like you'd see in Saw or one of the "name brand" horror movies).Which would all be alright if it truly mastered the psychological angle. Instead, however, you get characters that come and go and exhibit no personality and a lousy twist ending that derails what little character development you do get.Not to mention, the one girl (yellow shirt) had such an infuriating personality that it genuinely made the first half of the movie more unpleasant.

A group of friends stop to pick up a hitchhiking woman only to end up getting drugged by her with a gas. They awaken to find that vials have been implanted in the base of their skulls - which are, of course, instantly fatal if they are removed.A film where people are forced to torture each other? With the dubious reason that brain chemicals are being collected? While there is some cleverness to this latter part, the former boils down to yet another title in the never-ending "torture porn" subgenre of horror. And no one wants that. Of course, viewers should not be surprised when the cover is a pliers holding a tooth. If there is one redeeming thing about this film, it is the inclusion of Maynard James Keenan as Special Agent Ford. But, to be fair, the torture aspects are stronger in the first half and there is some attempt to bring out the humanity in these folks. Does that make this is a good movie? No. But it could be a lot worse.

U shouldn't watch this movie its horrible. Its torture. why do people always want to hurt the black people. And its voilent. never let your kids watch movies by yourself i don't understand. it was many other races on this movie. but they pick the black man. I hate racist movies. Its annoying to me.!! Why would u want to harm people like this.i love horror movies. but this one is out of my range.thats just how horrible it is. its awful it kinda makes me wanna cry just by watching it.this movie is worst than paranormal activity.they cut there fingernails off.and burned a man with an iron.they even broke one mans leg .and it was a black persons leg to be exact.

The acting was not very good and parts of the interactions between the victims was a bit forced and unrealistic...but, I did keep my attention throughout. As far as realism, the actors didn't convey as much pain as they actually would have felt. If you have a fingernail ripped out like that, you are going to be writhing on the floor for a long time and the throbbing from your finger would render that hand useless and would render you unable to be able to focus on anything until the gruesome pain subsided. Which would take a long time. Most of them had multiple fingernails ripped out. Also, when the one guy has the pot of boiling water poured over his lower half...he would have been unable to do anything more...yet we see him in the next scene without any discernible evidence of pain. In fact, we see him walking around like nothing has happened to him. The realism needs a lot of work.
