Disturbing yet enthralling

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Dear Rajesh Pillai, greetings from the other side. Vettah would have been watchable if you had not cast the dull and bland Kunjacko Bobban as the villain. He ruined the film for me. The acting was too self conscious with Manju Warrier and Indrajith trying too hard come across as overtly grave and professional. The film's plot reminded me of an old Mohanlal film called Mukham where the killer leads the investigating officer into suspecting the fidelity of his own wife. Vettah was engaging for a while but I find it tough to complete a movie when the acting is so bad. Nothing in the writing or the direction could take my attention away from the terrible acting. Some of the wannabe sinister dialogs mouthed by Kunjacko's character were nothing short of hilarious. This is another Malayalam movie where I gave up after the first hour.Best Regards, Pimpin.(4/10)

Revolves around two police officers (Manju Warrier and Indrajith) who are entangled in a celebrity missing case and where they come across the suspect Melvin Philip (Kunchako Boban) who without any compulsion confesses that it is he who has done the crime. Efforts of the police go on vain as they aren't able to find the body of the actress. All this time there is an eerie atmosphere around Melvin Philip.. As the movie proceeds forward some astonishing facts come to the notice of Sreebala (Manju Warrier) and Sylex (Indrajith).. Which makes this movie an absolute thriller.. And you have to give credit to Kunchako Boban for his brilliant performance.. The Background Score by Shaan Rahman just bestows you into the movie and Direction by Rajesh Pillai deserves a special mention.. All together.. A really good family treat for Malayalam Audience and also the others who love watching Mystery/Thrillers. My rating: 9/10

First of all, RIP Rajesh Pillai. All the credit goes to the direction by Rajesh Pillai. He did the same thing, from what he had done in the blockbuster, Traffic. Talking about the cast, Chackochan (Kunchacko Boban) had done a tremendous job as Melvin Philip and the makeup department needs a hats off to make Chackochan a 50 something person. Indrajith was awesome and Manju Warrier was OK. The film had a mystery from the start till the end. Some has given bad remarks about the film, as the film had some flaws here and there and needed clarification and kept the audience bewildered. Thriller, Thriller and Thriller is what I can explain you about the film in three words. Musics were good but were very short. Background was awesome, which had a great role in increasing our heart beats while watching the film.Direction was extremely stupendous and it is hard to believe that I can't see a film from this legendary person again in my life time. Camera was also good. Location and Art was OK. Story was also good. The success of the film purely depended on how they hold the breath of the audience. We have seen a lot of thrillers in Malayalam industry. But, Vettah is a kind of different thriller that I haven't seen before. This has romance, revenge, and suspense.Adult Film - No | Family film - Yes | Direction - 10/10 | Cinematography - 7/10 | Cast - 8/10 | Make Up - 7.5/10 | Songs - 7/10 | Background Score - 7.5/10 | Story -7/10 | Climax - 9/10 | Art Direction - 5/10 | Location Department - 5.5/10 | Overall - 7.4/10 | My Rating - 8/10
