Venom Audience Reviews

Solidrariol Am I Missing Something?
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Brooklynn There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
mattboy61992 Venom wasn't the greatest thing ever, but it's something that I would sit through again and againYou're not gonna find any Oscar-worthy acting here, but it's not putrid like the acting in the Black Christmas remake. Some of the kills were very inventive, and I liked the idea of this lonely, harmless man turning into a serial killer who is no Freddy or Jason or Hannibal, but he is smarter than some of the other brain-dead serial killers that appear in slasher films these days. Overall, if you are looking for an Oscar movie with this, than turn elsewhere, but if you are looking for a good slasher film for a Saturday night, than I would say rent this. It's something that you could buy if it's in the bargain bin.Rating: 6/10
MartianOctocretr5 Yet another Freddie Kruger/Michael Myers/Jason rip off look alike goes on a rampage in a cheap looking set. It's the same old rehashed story with a lineup of screaming teenage victims-in-waiting pursued and exterminated one by one by a mindless, ruthless serial slasher who feels nothing, yet somehow has a really bad attitude about things. No character development at all; you don't care what happens to these people any more than the brute who chops them up and drags their corpses around slowly. If anything, you hope he puts an end to all of them, as well as their rotten acting. They're in Lousiana somewhere at what looks like an old auto parts yard. It was probably the director's back yard. There's a feeble attempt at giving the movie a plot line, something about voodoo and really mean spirits. None of this is developed at all, nor will you care, anyway. The writer simply tossed it in as an excuse for the high body count and hemoglobin spraying around. The screaming and killing goes on and on, and if you manage to sit through this whole thing, you'll see an ending which is just as poor as everything else in the film. It's all plain lousy, and not even in a funny sort of way. Dull and stale.
kyleallen_9 I just decided to write about this movie, since I own it and watch all of the time. Venom is fast paced horror thriller from Dimension Films. It combines blood and gore with a dark voodoo atmosphere. It has a hot young cast of rising stars, especially a favorite actress of mine Agnes Bruckner(Kill Theory and Vacancy 2). Other cast members are Jonathan Jackson(Riding the Bullet), Laura Ramsey(The Ruins and The Covenant), Meagan Good(The Unborn), Bijou Phillips(Hostel 2 and Havoc), Davetta Sherwood, DJ Cotrona and many more. This film had hard core death scenes that have never been shown before and the chase scenes are relentless, with a newly possessed killer that keeps coming and coming until he gets you. Its basically about a group of friends who investigate the death of a friend, and end up getting mixed up in a mix of chills, thrills and surprises. They end up being chased through the swamps by a killer that cannot die. This movie scared the hell out of me and I definitely recommend it!!
FairReview Venom is a classic-style horror movie with elements of mystery, adventure and minimal gore. It is also an "Indie" type of movie, in that it stars a group of young actors with lots of energy, who are having fun, planning their lives (and getting killed-off:) I rated it a Nine within this context. The mystery theme, involving a group of young friends, reminds me of a Nancy Drew type story line. These young friends, with their whole lives ahead of them, are forced to learn about Voodoo quickly (to avoid getting killed-off:) The horror/Voodoo theme is well-known: A Voodoo Zombie is created when a dead body becomes "possessed" by a legion of escaped bad souls. These souls had previously been extracted from unfortunate victims and "confined" by a good Voodoo priestess during intervention/cleansing rituals. Unfortunately the bad souls escaped their confinement during an accident). The adventure theme is classic rockem-sockem: Obviously the Zombie is out for a hellish romp, and killing people left-and-right to strengthen it's evil occupants. Who is going to step-up and kick it's butt? This movie was deliberately made to be fun and entertaining, as well as provide some Voodoo folklore. A great Friday night romp in the swamp with an evil Zombie! Where Friends get to gather at Voodoo temples, get chased thru a bona-fide Louisiana Swamp, and often get to die!! There's even a hero at the end:)
