We have all seen this movie many times before: The quirky stranger comes into the life of a harried person or dysfunctional family and causes havoc and in the process helps them learn the true value of what is right in front of them if they'd only stop to notice.Hollywood has made this same story probably hundreds of times and we've all seen it in one incarnation or another more often than we can count. Sometimes the predictably of this age old story is just so much like ticking items off a checklist that you can't turn it off fast enough.And sometimes the predictable, feel-good story is, instead, done well and with just enough original bits that it feels like that old, stretched out, faded, fuzzy sweater you just can't part with because it is just so darned comfortable and comforting.We all know the formula of these films. We all know how it will end. But because Uncle Nino does it with such easy charm and gentle humor and none of the cheap, emotional manipulativeness most employ -- we just don't care! It is nice to see Joe Mantegna do something other than the typical macho roles we are so familiar with and Gina Mantegna is so natural she inadvertently puts a spotlight on how most child actors have more 'the right look' than any real acting chops.

Uncle Nino was great! We took our whole family and it was a joy to watch. As a second generation American of Italian descent myself, I was so drawn to Uncle Nino's character. He is my grandfather! The garden in the front yard! Music! Home-made Wine! Tradition! And family values! What a great family movie! Too many American families have lost site of traditional family values. This is a great movie for someone who has lost site of what is important. It's not the job, or the money it's all about the time with family. Too often we make our lives too busy to stop and just simply enjoy each other. This is a great movie to remind you of what you may be missing! Bravisimo!!! We need more movies like this!

This is one of the better films I have seen in recent years and the message that is brought out from watching it is much different than most movies. You feel great walking out of this one and it grabs you with its rare story seen in movies today. What is that story you may ask? Family is the answer. There are not a lot of films that come along and truthfully depict family life like this one did. It involves a family that is struggling to stay together when there uncle shows up almost out of nowhere. He teaches the family to interact and brings them together to become a unit once again. I enjoyed every minute of this fantastic movie and think that everyone should get a chance to see it. It is very truthful in its story and the family life that is simulated is very realistic to a modern family today. This is a movie for the whole family and can engage an audience of any age. There is one last thing that was rare about this movie no profane language is used, no sex, drugs, alcohol or anything of that matter. The film got a standing ovation when it finished by everyone in the audience and deserved even more. Everyone should see Uncle Nino.

I went to see "Uncle Neno" this morning with my 17 year old daughter and we both were very impressed with the movie. "Uncle Neno" is a "little Film" as opposed to some big budget blockbuster. "Uncle Neno", I believe, will be a successful niche movie. The film is suitable for any audience, no sex, violence, or bad language. If your trying to find a film to take the family to, one they will enjoy and come out with a serious message, "Uncle Neno" is the one. It tells it's story in a straight forward entertaining fashion. "Uncle Neno" is a warm, charming and thought provoking movie. The characters are well written, believable and well acted. It show us how we are in the U.S. and how we are often distracted from what is really important in our lives, our Family. I only wish that every family, including my own, could have an "Uncle Neno" to show us where we have gone astray. I compliment "Kick the Can" for this picture.
