This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

PROS: Technically this movie is a train wreck, but creatively this movie is outstanding. The whole idea that a sad brother wants answers and the only way he will get them is by torturing people is so freaking hilarious to me, but the movie is anything but hilarious. This is a dark and horrifying film. Cabin in the woods meets the invitation. There really is nothing conventional about this film, at all, from the character development to the plot development this movie does nothing you'd expect, which I like because it kept you on your toes.CONS: Basic flaws include low budget acting, un suspenseful filmography, crappy resolution, and poorly strung together plot. But besides the basics there is one con that actually hindered my viewing experience, and that would be... The acting. Although this will be the only thing I'll harp on this wasn't the only thing wrong with the movie. What really frustrated me with the acting was the inability to express genuine emotions. What you got from each and every character in the movie were stagnant responses. This is bad because it made the characters flat, and in a horror film no character ever should be flat. That is a strong no no.www.chorror.com

It was a simple graduation party in the suburbs of London, that was starting to get boring. With nothing else to do, the drunk teenagers decide to play Truth or Dare. One of the popular kids decides to use the opportunity to embarrass one of the less popular kids with disastrous results. In order to make it up to him, the popular kids agree to go to his birthday party, at a lavish country house, but when they get there, Felix isn't there. Instead the group finds his older brother, who forces them to play a more extreme game. I love the horror site Bloody Disgusting, and I watch most of what they recommend. For some reason they occasionally choose these obscure British films, with actors I've never heard of, and they almost always turn out like this. Truth or Die is unbelievably slow moving, and as expected, nothing really happens until the last ten minutes, and even that didn't make this film worth watching. As for the cast, it's no wonder I never heard of them, because most of them were absolutely terrible. The story is somewhat unbelievable to begin with, but add to that a bad cast, with thick accents, bumbling lines, and you get a film that is nearly unwatchable. I respect the opinions of our friends at Bloody Disgusting, but in this case, I don't know how they could have made this a selected film, it really is a complete waste of time.

My quick rating 5,5/10. This is a revenge flick that definitely goes that extra mile to focus on the back story as much as the torture of the participants. The youths think they are going to a party for some kid they made fun of (hey, morons, why were you invited again?) and of course, revenge is on the menu. But the subtle twists in this movie make it stand out(especially towards the end). The acting of the kids (young adults, whatever) was surprisingly good but part of me thinks they were just being themselves, not acting (which is fine). The scares are minimal as this is much more psychological thriller in nature. Te payoff ends up being worth the trip (95min). As in most horror movies these days, the male dominant bad guy tends to get real clumsy and forgets how to fight (considering he was military, this seems a bit strange) but doesn't deter much from the film. It seems with all the recycled horror there is, movies such as this have a hard time standing out since they are good, but just can't make any leap above what has already been done. Enjoyable nonetheless.

I lost interest after one particular scene. It just seemed so fake after that point. I guess that's the Hollywood factor. Overlook the obvious escape route to keep the movie going. After watching so many horror movies I've learned a couple of things. If the bad guy/monster is down for the count take him/her out! Don't just stand there and wait until he/she gets back the energy to kill you. If you break or chop off fingers, they can't pick up anything to hurt you. When you break/shoot/stab the ankles, knees and/or feet then they cant chase you! Survival tactics that should have been used in this flick but it would have ended the movie really fast.
