Bruno wakes up in bed next to Caroline, his long time crush. But tomorrow she's off for school in France, and maybe she only granted this miracle as a parting gift for her long time friend. So tonight is Bruno's last chance. And tonight, as it happens, Broken Social Scene, her favourite band, is throwing a big outdoor bash. Maybe if Bruno, with the help of his best pal Blake, can score tickets and give Caroline a night to remember, he can keep this miracle alive.

This Movie Is Broken Audience Reviews

TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
AlexPop74 They have found a great title for this movie, because it reflects the viewer's impression after watching this film. The story is very simple, but still it doesn't seem to get the audience. It's really hard to stand watching it to the end and it is not the purpose of movies (the purpose of movies is to entertain people). Anyways, I have to admit that it has a few good lines, but that's it, overall is, as another reviewer said, a story with less story than some 5 minutes MTV music videos. Sometimes I have the impression that NFB Canada does not read the projects that are submitted for financing, they seem to set up a draw and that's it, here's the financed projects for this year.
dacrez This Movie Is Broken is either a blatant self promotional film for the band Broken Social Scene or the writers truly lack any talent and had to compensate for their lack of skill and/or writers block by putting a live concert in to fluff out and fill 90% of their script. To even suggest that this is a movie is misleading. It's an hour and a half music clip showing a live band (Broken Social Scene) intermingled with perhaps a total of 10 minutes of actual dialogue and 'storyline' about the characters.I can't even imagine how anyone can even call this a movie other than the fact that it's comprised of a series of still images strung together.Unless you want to sit and watch Broken Social Scene play live for almost an hour and a half, avoid this film.I have seen music clips tell a better tale in less than 5 minutes. The movie summary for this film has almost the whole story in it.
marcsparc I am guessing that with 14 members in the band, each knowing 5 people, it is possible for this to have a high rating. Based on watching and listening to this band though, you'd have to wonder the quantity of drugs that were ingested prior to their performance. This is a hodge-podge of mediocrity and self aggrandizement. This band claims to be Toronto's band, much in the same way that the SkyDome was Toronto's attempt to be a sports capital. If you need to kill some time, try picking your toes, at least it offered me more entertainment than this lame wannabe attempt at being cool.
hendrix99 I really did enjoy this movie, however, I tried to watch it with the perspective of someone who doesn't like/know BSS. I must say it's not a movie for everyone. There's a cheesy story and it's blended along with a concert. It's fun to see how the band acts on stage, and the emphasis isn't just put on one member, but on all of them. The movie itself is almost like a semi-rockumentary since it depicts the atmosphere of the city of Toronto at Harbourfront in the summer. It's hard to tell if the focus is on the band or the story, but it was a great movie anyways. It wasn't meant to be a blockbuster or the critics' choice of the year, it's just about friendship and fun. Don't expect it to have a fantastic storyline and splendid acting, because you will be disappointed.
