The Worst Film Ever
Lidia Draper
Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

A majority of sequels are way worse than the first movie. This one is no exception. During most of the movie you barely see anything. The lighting is so bad, that it soon becomes even boring to watch. A director switch to Tom Harper did not improve this movie at all. Even worse, here we have even more stupid jump scares lurking behind almost every corner and almost the only "horrifying" thing about this movie are these terrible loud sound effects, included for no reason but to hide the fact, that this movie lacks a lot of substance. I don't recommend seeing this one!

... if you're going to try to cash in on success at least do it well! I loved The Woman in Black - both the original and the remake - and, like most people of the same opinion, looked forward to revisiting the spookiness of Eel Marsh House. What a let down! The acting is reasonable. Phoebe Fox looks suitably scared running along dark corridors and peering fearfully through windows. They all do their best within the limitations of the script and the direction. The film is annoyingly dark and hazy, which I imagine was an attempt to create atmosphere (as precious little else in the film does) but instead is just ... well, annoying! There are a few frights but the fright formula is repeated so frequently throughout the film that it becomes tedious and predictable. The real villain of this piece is the director. As a stand alone film this would probably scrape by as an average horror but the problem is we judge it against it's predecessor and it doesn't come close. The Woman in Black was a class act, atmospheric and spooky with some genuine frights and good acting. This looks like it was thrown together in a couple of days. Watch it if there's nothing else on telly but don't pay good money to see it.

Not a jump scare got us, the biggest thrill of the film was the WW2 solider's coat (no, we didn't catch/know his name). Every spook was predictable and we found ourselves playing Pokemon go 30 minutes in, decent Bulbasaur though. The moment Edward came onto screen we clocked he was haunted, so when he entered the spooky room for the first time, rather than being scared for him, we were more riled up for a scuffle between him and the kid who shared an uncanny resemblance with eyebrows from CBBC/maze runner. Overall, we switched to Stone Cold interfering to take out the WCW just as nice coat guy drowned, and the stunner being delivered to a pesky lightweight drew more satisfaction than this film ever did. 3/10

I honestly gave up watching this crap after 47 minutes with nothing happening, except one death and only a glimpse of the lady in black. The death is not even shown, nor explained. They just find the body of one of the boys on the beach no way near the house.I really don't get how they could muck this up so bad. The original was truly terrifying and one of the best horror movies in many years. But apart from the title and the same house, this is so boring that it doesn't even deserve to be labeled horror. As a drama it doesn't work either. The characters are two-dimensional and I don't really care when when the first boy dies. The original worked both as a drama and as a horror-movie with sympathetic likable characters. This movie has none of that in spite of having what appears to be a larger budget than the original, it comes off as a cheaper movie.People who actually like this and considers it better than the original are the usual morons that wouldn't know a good movie if it came up and bit them in the ass.The same people that consider The Dark Knight Rises, MI:4, Shutter Island, Miami Vice and Skyfall good movies. 5 of the worst movies ever made. Do not take their opinions seriously as they're completely clueless.Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion, but being a person that love movies and have actual knowledge of movies, actors, directors, genres e.t.c. I consider my opinion more trustworthy than people who love crappy movies over good movies and who has no demands of any kind when they judge a movie.
