Gripping story with well-crafted characters

if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

Synopsis: A young man returns home from military school and finds his mother getting remarried to a new man, the young man suspects that there is something not right about this new man.Review: This is a watchable thriller remake. Great performances, and there is also some unique great camerawork here from time to time.
The majority of this movie is a straight up thriller, there are a few elements of creepiness, example the scene where the stepfather murders the old lady (that scene was cold due to there being no film score at all for that scene) and frankly that scene was unwatchable, it is actually a very upsetting scene, i think because the lady was old and couldn't really defend herself or even be able to attempt to.The Stepfather is an unpredictable thriller that is never boring, what more can i say - if you like thrillers watch or re-watch this. I recommend skipping the original because that version is unwatchable, and watch this remake instead.

This is a very predictable and slightly bland horror film. It is not amazingly gory but it does have some violence. You can predict exactly where this is going long before it happens. I found it quite easy going to watch and the climax was suitably exciting to make it feel like it was worthwhile watching. There is nothing that you can take away from this film except the happy knowledge that he survives and there is a sequel. This takes itself seriously and there is no knowing comedy about the slightly tacky setup. There are better films than this but the relative blandness works in its favour giving you a slow ride to oblivion on the psychotic stepfather's path to ultimate annihilation.

What a change of pace for Dylan Walsh, seen as Poppy Montgomery's love-interest and strong minded cop Al.In this film he plays a murderous psychopath who marries widows or divorcees and then proceeds to kill families. One woman in Portland, Oregon immediately falls for him and he moves in. Her eldest son, who has been a problem, immediately suspects that something is amiss, and of course we have the younger son being hit by Walsh.Walsh seeing that various people are suspicious, begins his murderous rampage with a nosy neighbor, the woman's ex-husband and her sister becoming victims. The fighting finale on the roof is tense, but with all Life-time films, these culprits seem to get away and as the film ends, they are ready to continue their mayhem.

I stayed up late on a work night to watch this and I'm disappointed. That's 90 minutes of my life I won't get back. The whole movie seemed to lack suspense. It was advertised as a slasher movie, but it contained no gore and the most pathetic excuse for violence. It was almost laughable. I feel like they blew the whole budget on Amber Heard's bikinis and underwear, so they couldn't afford any really good bloody or gruesome SFX. There was no story arc whatsoever, it just didn't seem like it was snowballing into this incredible edge-of-your-seat suspense, he ended up killing everyone in such obvious and stupid ways, there were some scenes that could have been made to be incredible, but they were cut short and you didn't really know what happened. Even the ending was anti- climatic. Personally I don't know how a serial killer who interacts with the victims families and close personal friends can evade capture. This is 2009 America, surely the man was caught on CCTV somewhere? I just found the whole story unbelievably boring and far fetched. A man deleted a photo you took of him off your phone and you deduce that he's a serial killer? Right until the final showdown, I was wondering when the suspense and drama would kick in.
