I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Acceptable ghost story about ghouls , spirits , ghosts and many other things . Ghastly movie builds taut by exposing virtually genuine chills , and tenebrist photography . Spanish Pyrenees , the winter of 1967 is coming to an end . It explores Laura, a nine-year-old girl, she is found drowned in a marsh near a boarding school in the Pyrenees . A month later, a stranger called Marco (Jose Luis Garcia) arrives in the village and moves into the attic of an isolated mountain house where hears voices of a baby and footsteps . He investigate the place trying to disclose the secret about the weird deeds . After that , Marco befriends Matias (Manuel Moron) who works at a boarding school and tells him about the mysterious events happened long time ago . Meanwhile, the Principal of the boarding school, Julia (the French Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu who played : Three Men and a Cradle , Vatel , Two brothers ) , witnesses rare behavior in Monica (Irina) , the roommate of the killed girl and starts to communicate with her invisible friend when is simultaneously frightened . Perhaps the sightings of Monica a in the days after her drowning are something supernatural . While Marco yet drawn to the marsh . Spanish mystery film full of thrills , suspense , chills , eerie intrigue , plot twists , dark atmosphere , and otherworldly happenings . It gives a terrifying and disturbingly adult view of childhood fears in which posses an element of melancholy . It's an exciting , bizarre film ; skillfully written and well proceeded and turns out to one of the most unusual Spanish suspense movie ever made and certainly one of the most unsettling . Influenced by various Spanish terror films , taking parts here and there and carrying out a crossover of "The Devil's Backbone" , ¨The others¨ and ¨The orphanage¨ .Furthermore , colorful and evocative cinematography by Pablo Rosso , Jaume Balaguero's usual cameraman , as he has photographed ¨ The second name¨, ¨Mientras Duermes¨ , ¨Rec¨ saga , ¨After party¨, ¨Presentimientos¨, among others . Excellent photography perfectly filmed on location in Donostia-San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, País Vasco, Orunz, and Pamplona, Navarra, Spain . The motion picture was well directed by Pablo Malo . Pablo packs excellent creation of tension , thriller , emotions and terror . Pablo offers an emotionally overwrought story about ghosts in unashamedly melodramatic style . Pablo Malo is a director and writer, known for Shorts such as Angel De Mármol , Jardines Deshabitados (2000) and his affecting debut feature : Frío Sol De Invierno (2004), and his best film resulted to be this ¨ La Sombra De Nadie¨ (2006) also titled "The Shadow of No One" or ¨Nobody's Shadow" or ¨El Internado¨.

The winter of 1967 has almost gone. Laura, a 9-year old girl is found dead in a marsh near to an orphanage in the middle of the Pirineos. A month later, Marco arrives to the town and settles in the attic of a old house far at the mountain. Julia, orphanage's headmistress, notes a strange events concerning Monica, Laura's roommate. It's a place where the little girl is attracted at the same time that is scared, because she thinks, Laura is still there...I haven't seen too many Spanish movies, mainly this kind of genre. Let me say that this film is quite good. A couple of days before I saw the poster of this film on the wall of a video-rental store, it looked interesting, I came inside and red the summary behind the box,(at the top this comment), it really looked interesting, so that, I rented it. What's a surprise when I was watching it. Throughout the film the plot was increasing more and more. I think the whole cast were good, nice performance, and good scary shots. In a first time after the screen faded at the end of the movie, I was thinking about a different ending, "the direction could have worked more about it, because, it's hard to believe that the ghost just would want stay besides her dead relatives... perhaps there was a murderer amongst the people". I was dead certain it could have been better, but, in a different way, a murderer in the movie became the film a Spanish version of Gotica, that is the reason why It graded it 8/10.May be people didn't like the ending, but if you see in a different point of view, you will see that the film is quite original. I recommend this film for anyone wants to have a good time.

I was to the cinema looking for something different, not as easy as going to see babel or another great productions. And i was surprised with this well-done piece, made with a few money and without too much trailers on TV.The thing is that the cold in the movie affects you. It's cold in Pirineos and specially in 1967. And you are cold in your seat. The beginning in the movie is slowly and the end is in my opinion, too much aseptic. But there are really interesting sequences along the film, and history become interesting for a moments.I like Spanish cinema in general, but i am a little tired of seeing the same faces doing similar papers in all the Spanish movies. But i didn't know any actor in this. A pair of secondaries, nothing else.Well, I recommend you if you like frighten amazing movies. A 7. Let's see what this Pablo is able to do.
