An absolute waste of money

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

A retired Argentinian federal agent is trying to write a book about a past case of his and in doing so hoping to finally come to terms with it. The case concerns a murdered young woman and all the legal hoops they had to jump through in pursuing a conviction and all the corruption that stood in their way.Ricardo Darín plays the lead role here. He was also my favourite in another Argentinian film, Wild Tales, which I really enjoyed, and he's also my favourite in this film. Something about his whole being is just perfect to convey the frustration and sadness his character has to go through in fighting the windmills that are the Argentinian government and its legal system. As for the story, it was competent and very much enjoyable, but I also felt that it lacked that certain something. The end twist I could see coming miles away and the rest of the events, while competently filmed and certainly professionally made all around, were not what I'd call original. Not to say that originality is the end and all of film making - although it usually doesn't hurt. You can tell a classic tale and your film will be a classic as well, if you just tell it well enough. But here I didn't find that personal touch that I'm looking for.Still, the film is very good. If you're looking for a crime film with a film-noir feel and twist, you should definitely keep this one in mind.

A retired legal counselor writes a novel hoping to find closure for one of his past unresolved homicide cases and for his unreciprocated love with his superior - both of which still haunt him decades later. The Secret in their Eyes is no different than any of the other foreign movies that i've seen, it's just as boring and just as big of it self thinking that it's a masterpiece when it's not. The acting wasn't that impressive and the story as well and to be honest i would suggest the american version with Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman than this one any day of the week.

Greetings from Lithuania.I found "The Secret in Their Eyes" (2009) a good mystery movie with some great performances, deep and not one note story and very solid directing. The ending was great. Although the movie dragged a bit during middle, not for a second did i was bored from the overall experience.Overall, "The Secret in Their Eyes" (2009) is a good movie. It was a powerful story, great acting, writing and directing. Good movie overall.

Some movies just connect with us more deeply and increase our respect towards films. This is one of such movies. The way story is told and the impact it leaves after we finished watching can't be explained in in words. Even though I watched the whole movie with the help of subtitles(as it is in Spanish) , I never felt any significant difference in movie experience , it's largely due to amazing acting and direction. One of the unforgettable movies I watched ever.Final 30 minutes is just mind blowing.
