The Ruby Ring Audience Reviews

ChicDragon It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Jenna Walter The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
KKrastin This movie is great - taking a young teen from present day to the past in a journey to discover what she wants and/or doesn't want. If only every teen can have a grandmother to give them a ruby ring so that they can see for themselves what the "grass on the other side of the fence" really looks like.It has some resemblance of a mix of the SOMEWHERE IN TIME with the WIZARD OF OZ, but not too either extreme. In the end, one is left to wonder, will she get her wishes after all? Love the actors and actresses in this film, and it was very well made. Perfect for anyone that is facing some disdain in their life and wonder if they should venture off in the greener pastures or remain right where they are presently.
Maurene I generally like this kind of movie - young female lead, romantic, historical setting, with a fantasy/mystical element. This movie didn't disappoint but it also didn't leave much of an impression.My biggest gripe is that it was too rushed. The lead character's 24 hour deadline meant there wasn't much time to develop relationships. This was especially problematic with the love interest (Lucy/Robert) and we're forced to take it as love at first sight. I thought they did well with the Lucy/Nellie friendship though. My other minor gripes was that the lead actress was too old and I thought she wore an obvious wig.But, the acting was pretty good. I like Rutger Hauer playing creepy guys. And I thought Judy Parfitt added credibility to the movie. It appeared to be set in a real historic house/castle. I appreciate that the movie didn't try too hard or get too sentimental and it made its point in a very straight-forward manner.
EmmaLiz9 I enjoyed this film very much. I can't wait to see it again. It was typical but excellent in it's own way. I am looking for a time that it is on so I can tape it. I wish that they would put it out on tape. The actors are excellent and should be in more movies.
sandraemerson I really liked the movie. I have also read the book, and even though they have definite differences between them, I still think that it was a good film. I happened to see the movie on a Saturday morning, when I was looking through the guide. Since I had read the book before I saw the movie, I had presumptions as to what it would be like. I have to admit though, that it did have a good amount of similarities to the book (which I liked as well).
