Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Isbel A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
jhauser07 It's a nice little movie. Comes off more dated with the musical score but the talent discovered for this flick alone is worth the watch. Swayze, Lowe, Howell, Cruise, Estevez, Macchio, Lane and Dillon. All young. All green. Sometimes dialogue is hard to follow and I found myself backtracking a few times to catch lines the 2nd time around. Young actors in a story by a young writer. Guilty pleasure. Glad I watched it.
kharel-niraj90 The Outsiders is a coming-of-age movie about the rivalry of two gangs, "Socs" and "Greasers" in 1960s Oklahoma. Based on the novel by S.E. Hinton and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the movie is well known for casting future stars namely, C. Thomas Howell, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane and Rob Lowe. The Socs are rich kids who live in the south side of town whereas Greasers are mostly middle working class and poor kids who are from the other side of town. After an incident, the rivalry quickly escalates and they must face off each other for a final time which determines who really "owns" the town and also the fate of everyone involved.
azred-19780 The Outsiders is a very powerful book with so many deep meanings behind it. I went through many emotions during reading this, and most of the chapters I enjoyed reading. Although it is very well written piece, it is sort of monotonous at times. As well as this, the characters, settings and plot were sometimes hard to follow. Out of 10 stars, I would give it a 7 because I did thoroughly enjoy it. It moves at a good pace, and it is very well revised. 8th graders is a good audience for this piece, and they can get many valuable lessons while reading it. The movie barely differed from the book. However, the movie is at a very very slow pacing and it was very boring to me.
brookesebranek I had to watch this movie for an English class. It was hard to follow the story-line and take notes at the same time. The movie differs a lot from the book. It was hard to watch and understand the movie considering it is 2015 and the movie was made in the 80's. They also appear to be older than the book says they are. In the book Pony is 13, but in the movie he's like in his 30's. The movie is also very short and leaves out key points from the book. The movie was much worse than the book, in my opinion. It does have a good life lesson that people can learn and use in life. I suggest age 13 plus for this movie. This movie was a good lesson, but hard to watch and understand.
