The Negotiator Audience Reviews

Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
SnoopyStyle Top Chicago police negotiator Danny Roman (Samuel L. Jackson) is warned by detective Nate Roenick that money is missing from police pension funds. Nate is killed and Danny is framed for it. Internal Affairs Terence Niebaum (J.T. Walsh) investigates. Offshore accounts in Danny's name are found. Danny suspects Niebaum's involvement and takes him, his assistant Maggie (Siobhan Fallon), police commander Grant Frost (Ron Rifkin) and petty criminal Rudy Timmons (Paul Giamatti) as hostages. Danny uses his negotiating skills to demand outsider negotiator Chris Sabian (Kevin Spacey) as he tries to find Nate's secret informant. Chief Al Travis (John Spencer) and Commander Adam Beck (David Morse) seems intent on taking down Danny.Instead of suspense, this movie goes for overwrought thriller action. Samuel L. Jackson is in his full glory. It has its appeal but the central investigation holds very little interest. Director F. Gary Gray's music video roots are showing. It's fun overblown intensity but it doesn't stick.
Georgian Stanescu One word came out of this film. CORRUPTION. I wasn't actually gonna do a review, considering, I would only have one word. But the action and the scene, was just unreal. It tells a story of a cop Danny(Jackson), was being framed for a murder of another cop. Battles ensues between the cops and the Feds aka FBI get involved. Music score was quite good actually. Very suspenseful, no doubt. hahaah. Chris Sabier gets involved as Danny asked for him. Then during the film, the SWAT team and other police cops Chicago PDs, get involved by breaking what Chris had asked him to do. Then the lawyer or some other cop gets thrown into the ring, Frost. It has then been found that Frost was the one who did the framing. It just goes to show you who you can trust. "You can't trust anyone".
Minahzur Rahman The Negotiator is a very good and successful Crime film filled with lots of action and mystery. The story is about a Police Negotiator known as Danny Roman (Samuel L Jackson) who is 'apparently' accused of corruption and killing his partner. Danny Roman (Samuel L Jackson) strongly believes he is innocent and that some members within his police force framed him for these crimes for various reasons. He then sets out to prove in a hard way that he was being set-up and to do that, he holds some hostages at a building until his demands are met. Danny Roman then demands certain conditions to be met and one of them is for summoning an indifferent Police Negotiator called Chris Sabian (Kevin Spacey) who works for a different police force. This is because there are some fellow Police members within Danny's (Samuel) force that apparently set him up and he cannot trust his own team to openly handle this major situation Danny (Samuel) has put himself in and demanding decisive answers from them too. Danny (Samuel) believes that without Chris (Kevin) taking charge then some members within his own team that apparently framed him will try to kill him because of the conspiracy Danny (Samuel) is trying to solve with hostages in his presence. Chris Sabian (Kevin) is his one and only hope Danny (Samuel) believes that can get him out of these 'false' accusations. Like I've said, the film is a brilliant crime film that gets you intrigued. The acting was brilliant especially from Samuel L Jackson and Kevin Spacey who were unarguably the stand-out performers of this film. What makes this film really good is that its hard to predict who is behind the crimes Danny (Samuel) 'apparently' committed yet it gives some clues but the viewer somehow won't even notice it till after the film. Well that's how I felt anyway. The film is certainly worth watching and you certainly won't feel disappointed. The film has everything drama, action, mystery and thrill. This film is pretty much tailor made for crime film fanatics.
david-sarkies The Negotiator is a very tense movie that keeps you captivated right through to the end. The cinematography is brilliant and the plot has been developed to completely throw the viewer. As this movie does has a number of twists, I will not reveal them so as not to spoil the movie. This movie is about a number of themes. It is about control and power, the bluff, and the truth. A top police negotiator is framed for stealing money for the police disability funds and for murdering his partner. He is innocent and goes to internal affairs to try and find out what is wrong. While he is there, guns are pulled and it falls into a hostage situation. The catch is that he is a police negotiator and as such knows everything that the police do to rescue hostages. Because of this he is able to take control of the situation, and maintain control. He is able to shut the police out of the room and create a very dangerous situation. Because he has been told that his friends are involved, he demands that another negotiator (Kevin Spacey) come to handle the situation. The Negotiator deals with intense psychological warfare where the negotiator is using all of his tactics that he uses on hostage takers to bring the police around to his side. The central part of this warfare involves the bluff. They must lead people to think one thing while they are trying to do another. In situations such as these, calling the bluff can be dangerous, but if one is in complete control of the situation then one can be safe in knowing that the bluff will not be called.Bluffs are thrown around constantly in this movie, but here the hostage taker is in complete control and is able to easily call their bluffs, while he can bluff without worrying about them being called. The Negotiator is a very good movie. It is quite fast, I think, though it drags a bit at the beginning. Generally the drag is needed to set up the plot, but once it gets going, the action becomes very tense.
