AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
BroadcastChic Excellent, a Must See
Married Baby Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?
Bestkb A great movie if you want something fun, exciting, but not overly scary. The story is really nothing new in terms of Halloween themed movies; kids have a party and bring back the dead from the past and need to get them back before the midnight hour on Halloween night. The acting in this TV movie is what you would expect from a movie made for television. My standout favorite in the movie would be Levar Burton, from Star Trek NG fame. Every actor in this movie is acceptable, no real Oscar nominees nor Razzies..So if you are in the Halloween mood and what something to get you into the Halloween spirit, I would say this made for television movie is exactly what you need to fulfill your desires for good Halloween fun.
jgumblue I just want to say this is a great movie, I like the approach the director takes, with the zombies going to parties and enjoying life a little bit more. I used to watch when I was a kid too, a classic. Especially the cheerleader, is so touching when she has to go back, it kind of makes you think about the dead people in the ground, all that once, wonderful youth, now, rotting in some graveyard. A lot of good comedy too, and just one of those movies to have a good time and remember when you were a kid and you had all your life ahead of you. Give a chance for midnight hour, for sure it will not disappoint you. Get set to eat a lot of popcorn and if you are a luck guy, your gal by your side.
Coventry I personally never heard about "The Midnight Hour" before in my life until a couple of friends and myself chose to watch it, but apparently this little made-for-TV film has a modest cult following and I've read in numerous praising reviews that it's a Halloween favorite of many horror fans that grew up during the 80's. It's not a bad film, but definitely not too great neither. "The Midnight Hour" is mainly a comedy feature and "homage" to old zombie movies instead of a typically 80's cheese and gore movie. A group of teenagers break into a costume shop on Halloween night and steal a chest that contains genuine witchery equipment to raise the dead. They all go to a remote graveyard together for a private party and the rest of the plot writes itself. The dead are raised, all right, but there are also several alternative types of creatures coming to life as well, like vampires, werewolves and a 50's cheerleader who seemingly doesn't seem to know how she died. Slow start, with overlong introductions of unimportant characters and a whole lot of Halloween information that isn't even accurate. There's also plentiful of clichéd situations/jokes, like the zombies not being recognized or even looked at as abnormal when they invade a Halloween costume party. I reckon this is a personal favorite of many, but personally I thought "The Midnight Hour" is bit boring and pointless as the zombies never really embark on a brain-eating rampage. It's an overlong film with full-length sing & dance intermezzos, for example a video that seems inspired by Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Speaking of which, the film does have a fantastic soundtrack including horror-themed songs like "Little Red Riding Hood", "Bad Moon Rising", "Clap for the Wolf Man" and of course Wilson Pickett's "The Midnight Hour".
Joseph P. Ulibas Midnight Hour (1985) was one of those lame made-for-t.v. horror films that made it's way on network television during the 80's. Most of them suck rotten eggs and this one is no exception. I don't know why they spent money on tripe like this (From what I remember it didn't look like much). Old teenagers raise the dead on saturday night. What happened, was there nothing else to do on the weekend? I guess they were bored silly. Saturday night, the scene is dead, nothing to do. I know what, lets do something real stupid like cast an unholy spell that causes some not so dead corpses come back to life. Capital idea! Was the local video store closed? Wasn't the bowling alley open? I don't know but I do know not to waste good money on stuff like this!Best to avoid unless you're really desperate!D-If you're that hard up to watch this movie then i suggest you find yourself another hobby or read a good book. Life's just too short.
