Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
Noquietthoughts So many funny scenes! The nuns' confessions, the priest losing the things he was supposed to sell, the tribunal questions and the punishment given. Very offbeat and irreverent and HILARIOUS!
gonzostick-55211 Jeff Baena succeeds in doing a screwball comedy, based on material from "THE DECAMERON". Nuns in a medieval nunnery go after a stable boy/gardener, hiding from his Lord, where he shtupped the Lord's wife.. This movie will make heads explode for Catholics, but I don't drink the Kool-aid, so who cares??? Some very funny shtick and goofy antics, but this film is not for anyone who is sexually constipated. For the ultimate horny nun movie, see Ken Russell's "THE DEVILS". This one is great, relaxing fun!!!
lukeshulver If you are someone who delights in a parody of religion and piety then this will tickle your pink bits. Laugh out loud moments. A delightful surprise.
Reno Rangan I won't reject occasional film like this. This is not a masterpiece that I was looking for, but surely something different than usual entertainment. Very nicely made film, so I appreciate whoever involved in its creation. And then there's the beautiful cast. It was so perfect casting, each and everyone did their parts awesomely. So tell me who would bash such rare gem. Then the answer is like usual the film critics.Aubrey Plaza is not a mainstream actress, but her films still make a stir. I enjoyed all her recent films and here's the another unique one. The third time she teamed up with the director, another decent comedy it was. Loosely based on the book, but it only spoofed. It tells the story of a convent of nuns somewhere in a lonely place. A new gardener joins them and the following events revealed as the thing that gets ugly and nasty. Many dark secrets unfold before it all ends.I suggest it to you if you are bored with regular comedies. It was not powerful or a tale with full of twists and turns, but watching it once surely works well. It was a film filled with adult comedies. So not suitable for all ages. Especially those who strongly believe in religion would only get annoyed. Just watch it with an open mind, so the entertainment is guaranteed. Not overall a perfect film, yet still slightly an underrated film of the year.6.5/10
