Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

I usually wouldn't write reviews, but I feel obligated to do so just so that people don't get misled by the high score that this piece of trash earned. Really embarrassing, definitely a candidate for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 reboot. The fact that a sequel, nay, TWO sequels were created after this... this... there are absolutely no words to describe just how incredibly awful this film was. You should watch it.Apparently I need 10 lines of text to explain how bad this was, so much like the movie, I will draw this review out in a painful manner, far beyond the possible scope of the actual content. Supposedly I could get my account blocked for padding this comment with junk words, but it doesn't matter. I'm here, logged in, for one reason, and that's to lower the average score of this monument to Hollywood stupidity.

The Librarian: Quest for the Spear is the first of The Librarian franchise.Noah Wyle stars in the title role as Flynn Carsen, who happens to be a perpetual college student who has obtained 22 academic degrees. Bob Newhart,Jane Curtin,Olympia Dukakis,Kyle MacLachlan,Sonya Walger and Kelly Hu co-stars.Flynn Carsen has collected numerous degrees as he spent most of his time in college. Now that he is 30 years old,he still remains shy which frustrates his mother so much for she wants him to settle down on his own. Finally, his professor expels him to gain some life experience in the real world.Looking for work,Carsen found an unexpected opening with the New York Metropolitan Library where he was hired to look after a special collection that is unknown to the world such as relics that includes the Holy Grail, Pandora's Box, the Golden Fleece, the Sword of Excalibur and the real Mona Lisa. But things become dangerous when there is a group known as Serpent Brotherhood and are determined to steal everything that Carsen has been taking care of in the library. This is definitely fun, enjoyable and an entertaining adventure TV movie. It is definitely far from realistic which can definitely be refreshing. Noah Wyle does a great job and provides a lot of interest in his role as the perpetual college student together with the supporting cast who provided great performances. It is a good film that one can sure in a lazy afternoon.

If you want to compare this movie to something, Romancing the Stone" would be the obvious choice. Just like Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, Noah Wyle and Sonya Walger have to go across the jungle together, only that the roles are reversed: she is the tough guy, while he is the intellectual. The characters are portrayed with love for detail. Even if Kyle MacLachlan is overacting a bit in the world domination now!" moments, he looks cool with gray hair and is a good choice for a villain. This spoof tends to lean towards cartoons, and therefore I won't worry about some special effects looking cheap, maximum realism isn't the point here. Quest For the Spear" creates moments of pure cliché so deliberately – for example Sonya's 'catfight' against Kelly Hu – that it can certainly not be accused of stupidity. In fact, it is clever, funny and packed with action so much that the exploration of Shangri-La is finished in 5 minutes and the brief opening of Pandora's box just happens casually. These qualities have not been equally achieved by its sequels. I voted 8/5/7 for the Librarian trilogy.

This is the most boring rip-off from Indiana Jones but hero hoes not have charisma, style, wit, nothing, just nothing. He is supposed to be the most clever guy on the Earth or something but his oh so clever remarks are just annoying. I do love clever people, but this character is absolutely disgusting. The plot is completely predictable, cliché after another cliché, only somewhat inverted - the hero is a nerd, his female partner is more Rambo-like character. In the new era male and female roles are completely inverted... only the guy is annoying like overly clever very talkative woman. But the story is really generic, you have seen the same like thirty times or so... Is there any software which writes automatically these almost identical stories? This movie is not worth watching. Absolutely not.
