SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

One of the worst movies I've ever seen

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

I just watched this movie, with my boyfriend who was planning on using it for a film study in his English 30-1 class. I cried the whole way through... and he was looking at me as though I was crazy. I mean, I loved it, but it was just too sad. Being a country kid myself, I know what it's like to have to move into "town" and it's tough. But the poor Will, he loses his girlfriend (who is his cousin...), his farm, and his grandpa -- All in one winter. It just made me SO sad. Based on the old legend that when it's your time to move on, a stark white horse comes to take you to the next world, this movie can only be summed up as wonderful, heart-warming, and just plain old sad. It makes you laugh at all the right times, with lines like "You had that coming since the day you learned to talk." and the dream about the gophers... It also knows how to tug on your heartstrings...WONDERFUL FILM.

i saw this movie when it first came out when i was 10 years old. the only word i can use to describe it is magical. its depictions of manitoba winters and manitoba family life are so accurate and touching. a truly wonderful movie about a boy growing up.
