Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

El Inmigrante is a great documentary. It focuses on the tragic shooting of a young man who wanted to come to the USA to make a better life for himself. The immigrant is shot in the back while fleeing from a white-man who refused to give him water. The film includes details about the man's family and situation. His normal, everyday family gives testimonials and interviews. It also follows the trial of the man who shot him and the lack of justice served. The soundtrack is great and includes music by such bands as Explosions in the Sky. Regardless of what your feelings are about illegal immigration; you will be touched by this story.

This documentary takes the viewer into the Mexican home of a man shot on his way to a "better life" in the U.S.A. It does a good job of showing the emotions of the man's parents and numerous younger siblings as they are interviewed in their home and fireworks factory. There are interviews with Border Patrol Officers, vigilantes peering through binoculars, local law enforcement agents and city officials, but none of these people are responsible for the man's death. Instead, he is shot by a doddering old man and allowed to bleed to death because he knocked on a door and asked for water. Superb editing and musical choices keep the viewer interested in learning more about this man's life and the impact his leaving home and his violent death has on his family. The film does not offer an answer to the immigration problem but, rather, shows how it affects human beings on both sides of the border. I want to see more work by this team.
