Info

From 1979 to 1986, Barry Bremen, a Detroit-area novelty goods salesman, became known in the sports world as The Great Imposter. Playfully seeking the spotlight, Bremen posed as a player in the Major Leagues and NBA, PGA golfer, NFL and NHL referee, and even Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. In doing so Bremen not only became known as sports ultimate fan but also managed to live out the dreams of legions of failed high school all-stars and armchair quarterbacks across the nation.

The Great Imposter Audience Reviews

Lucybespro It is a performances centric movie
CommentsXp Best movie ever!
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Mehdi Hoffman There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
Michael_Elliott 30 for 30: The Great Imposter (2013)For a seven year period Barry Bremen became known as The Great Imposter as he would find as many ways possible to work himself into the spotlight at various sporting events. These methods had Bremen getting on the court pretending to be a NBA All-Star, getting on the field at the 1986 MLB All-Star game and getting cussed by Tommy Lasorda and various other sporting events. I had never heard of Bremen until I watched this short and man what a trip it was. Of course, the times are a lot different today so after one of these events he'd probably be spending a lot more time in jail but back in the day these events made him a mini-celebrity and he even got on The Tonight Show. This documentary does a very good job at showing all these stunts and we also get interviews with his widow and children as they talk about what type of guy he was. This here is certainly a funny and touching gem.Episode: A
