The Ghost Writer Audience Reviews

More Review
GamerTab That was an excellent one.
AboveDeepBuggy Some things I liked some I did not.
Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Mahavvi Though the movie has suspense till the end,the ending is quite lame. I felt very bad about wasting my time on such a pathetic ending movie.
Nick Duguay This is the tenth time I've seen this film so what follows are just a few thoughts I had during this re-watch. The Ghost Writer is simple and minimalist, each line of dialogue is carefully measured and crafted; the whole thing is quite a slow burn but there are several blasts of realization coming in quick succession near the end that make it very worthwhile sitting through the full two hours. The Ghost Writer is not lavish in any aspect- a simple but beautiful set, calculated camera shots, a stark realism with just a hint of theatre. This is probably one of the best modern updates on the noir film. The whole thing has an atmosphere of the 60's noir film, or maybe it's just a bit closer to Polanski's own earlier remaking of the style, Chinatown. My favorite films are, without falter, surrealist, baroque, and flagrant; but for some reason The Ghost Writer stands alone in it's style as one of my all time favourites. Many people will compare it with Polanski's earlier films but to be honest I can't say that I like any other work of his more than this one (though some not quite less). Simple and slow, but there's a lot underneath to discover.
Mohamed Abdalla This is a great drama/mystery movie with a thrill added in a low quantity, all of that is combined with a well written script which deliver you a full integrated meal. The movie starts with a scene of a car on a fury that lost its driver, then we know that the body of the driver was found on the beach after he committed suicide. This driver is the former ghost of a former British prime minister. Then we come to our ghost, the guy whose real name wasn't mentioned throughout the movie, he got a proposal to complete the memories of the former PM.Then everything get sophisticated when the ghost investigate about the memories of his client.I have a problem with that much of names with letter R, for example:Rick Ricardelli ,Roy ,Sidney kRoll ,baRRy,Ruth lang ,Richard Rycart. I mean seriously, is it the letter R party ?!The movie has a really nice rhythm except for few moments that you may get bored watching them, the suspense is not constant as it's not primarily a thriller movie, however it has a surprising finale. Finally it's a good dramatic movie that keeps you wondering throughout it and the good thing that you will not be left with no answers.
jnfaulk I have never written a review before but after spending 30 mins flabbergasted reading reviews for this thing and only finding 1 review that had the same question as me i had to... how in the hell are people reviewing this movie so overwhelmingly positive? Not just like "good movie" - which it was definitely not - but things like "one for the ages" "perfect movie" "hooked from start to finish"...... HUH? Is this like a practice joke? Like some Internet troll where hundreds of people decided to spoof review just to F with strangers? I understand with some movies how people can like them and I have a different opinion. I can see reasons for them liking said movie and I can understand why we disagree. But I am absolutely stunned by the reviews here... some of the shots are pretty I suppose. in a dreary, dark, colorless, monotonous way.. but beyond that I saw nothing thrilling, suspenseful, entertaining. I saw no reason to care about any of the characters or what happens to them. And the ending? Is that supposed to be some shocking twist? It's crazy cuz I read critic reviews on rotten too and it was the same thing. Roger ebert or whatever 4 out of 4. Huh? I don't know.. I pride myself in life in being able to figure things out that confuse me.. having an understanding on why a thing is a certain way even if I don't see it that way.. this is something that I'm not going to be able to solve. How this movie earned such incredible reviews is the single greatest mystery of my life.
